View Full Version : who actually has a shot to win it all this year?

You can't rule out everybody but the Heat and Thunder because look at what happened last year. The Mavericks were ruled out by most people and came and won it all. So who actually has a shot to win it all this year? I would say
*obviously the Heat
*the Bulls, but I'm not too high on them
*I think the Clippers have a great chance, especially if they add someone like Ray Allen
*I don't really see the Spurs doing much in the playoffs
*I think the Celtics are more likely than most other teams in the East besides the top 2
*the Knicks definitely have the star power to be a dark horse
*lastly, I think people are sleeping on the Lakers, especially if they can add a PG
*oh and I almost forgot the Thunder

If the Lakers add a pg and not give up much, then them. If they add beasly and felton for instance and only give up draft picks and Blake, then them clearly. They are too big for most teams

I am responding to earlier posts listing the Lakers as a contender. Heat, Bulls, Thunder, and Spurs are the best teams. No other team can beat those teams in 7 games. Knicks and Pacers have an outside chance.

If the lakers have no shot then the Knicks won't make the playoffs.

These 3 seem to make the best sense. We should have a better idea in 10 days, but as of now, these are logical.

If anyone other than these teams win it all id be pretty surprised. They are easily the 3 best teams by a pretty good margin.

Look at who won the world series and the super bowl. Make the playoffs, you have an actual shot.

I think basketball is a little different. Baseball is really who gets hot at the right time. Football is a game of inches and one lucky play can catapult you to a ring. If Williams from the Niners is not a complete idiot, the Giants don't even get to the super bowl. Same for the Patriots. But in basketball, it's usually the best players win the rings. On occasion, a weird thing happens, but more often then not, you can give the eye test and pick a winner

SportsAndrew25
03-05-2012, 08:42 PM
With the way Lebron, Wade and Bosh have been playing lately, if they do not make the NBA finals this year, I will be shocked. This team has been playing on a higher level this year than they did last year. The only teams I can see matching up to them are the Bulls and the Thunder.

I don't hate the Knicks at all... They are just so overhyped because they're in new York...they're good yea but come on they're the broncos of the nba...overhyped might win a series in the playoffs and then get a reality check...

I don't hate the Knicks I hate the media that makes me want to kill a squirrel every time I hear about Lin and the Knicks...I know it's not their fault what the media says about them but they're overrated

HEAT, Bulls, and I would add Celtics fully healthy and hitting their stride.

West:
Thunder, Lakers, Spurs (see Celtics qualifier).

Yep, I think this is the overall opinion. And the Celtics as well

Clippers might be slipping though IMO. They've been around .500 or worse since Billups got injured and they're pretty young and don't have much playoff experience as a whole.

One of these five in no order

Bulls (My Favorite team and obivously they have a shot)
Thunder (Durant is a madman and so far the best team in the West)
Heat (As much as I hate them and hope they dont win they are still a great team)
Lakers (Kobe....)
Clippers (They are a talented team and may add another guard)

fin_frenzy_84

But to be honest if I had to put my money on it
I think it will be Heat or Bulls. The East is not going to lose to the West this year. I just dont see it.

Am I the only one who thinks the Clippers have virtually no shot at the title? Blake doesn't play defense too well, they are lacking a SG and Paul is a bit overrated. If they get a team with a good SG (E.G San Antonio, Lakers), they are going to have problems. They need to get some guys to back up well than maybe. I actually see them as a possible first round exit as well as those Lakers. I would love for them to play 4-5 seeds in the first round lol

1. Miami
2. Bulls
3. Bobcats
4. Thunder
5. Paul George
6. CousinsEvansDuo
7. Anybody Else.

Grizzlies have a good chance if they can stay healthy. they are playing very well this year without Randolph and can dominate down-low with him and Gasol healthy. Foolish to sleep on this team again.

Lets see in the East I like
MIA
CHI (as long as RIP can stay healthy)

Dark horses
NYK
ORL

In the West
OKC
SAS (need to be fresh and healthy cause they have the experience)

Dark horses
LAL
LAC

Basically my top 5 are
1. MIA

2. OKC
3. CHI
4. SAS
5. LAL
