Remember when we suggested that the Los Angeles Lakers re-sign Gerald Green?

Well, the New Jersey Nets beat them to it.

Green, a former Slam Dunk Contest winner who was named MVP of the D-League All-Star Game over the weekend, signed with the Nets on Monday, the minor league announced.

Green was averaging 19.1 points and 4.6 rebounds with the Los Angeles D-Fenders. He scored 28 points in 24 minutes in the D-League All-Star Game in Orlando, Fla. on Saturday.

Lets see if he can stick around this time in the NBA to give us a few more slam dunk highlights.

He's not a prototypical SF but he's big enough and he's athletic. We need at least one healthy SF on this team. Damion James, Keith Bogans and Shawne Williams (all SF starters at one point or another this season) are done for the season leaving only Deshawn (who really isn't a SF).

this should get the Nets that Lottery pick

Winning the D-Leauge All-star game MVP apparently gets you an NBA gig.

His ring finger was apparently amputated as a kid when he dunked and it got caught on the rim.

Dunno. Maybe it's Avery's system? I don't know. You'd figure we'd take someone like Balkman over Green but who knows. Balkman seemed to always light us up when we played the Knicks though.

If any team can revive his career it's the Nets with our gaping whole at SF and DWill to create. C'mon Gerald!!!!!!
