Is anyone really shocked by Love takeing down Durant? It's crazy that he's not starting in the allstar game. Enough said....Congrats K-Love!!!

ORLANDO Kevin Love, he's not just a rebounder anymore.

Not that he ever really was, but Love on Saturday night proved he has come a long way since his rookie season by winning the NBA All-Star three-point contest in a playoff against Oklahoma City smooth shooter Kevin Durant.

"You know, I'm a guy who loves to rebound the ball, a guy who loves to play inside," he said. "But for me, coming into the league, I was told not to shoot three-point shots. So to be where I am now, I think this definitely speaks to my versatility."

That rookie-season mention was a reference to Randy Wittman, who coached Love during his rookie season in 2008-09.

Love needed to put in extra work twice to take home a handsome trophy he said he will share first with Wolves assistant coach Terry Porter before he sends it home to Portland.

He beat Miami's Mario Chalmers in a mini tiebreaker to get out of the first round and then he beat Durant in a full five-ball rack tiebreaker 17 points to 14 after those two and reigning champ James Jones from Miami reached the three-man finals.

And he didn't even get paid overtime.

"No," he said while holding that trophy close to his side, "but I should have."

Former Chicago shooter Craig Hodges, who won the first three All-Star three-point contests in the mid-1980s, congratulated Love after winning the first time a Timberwolf ever was invited to participate.

"I always knew I could shoot it, but on the biggest stage now, when the bright lights turn on, I feel great," Love said.

As a Pistons fan. Love is my favorite non-Piston in the league. He's going to be good for a really long time.
