I love the ASG as much as anyone, but why not make it a little better by making it more competitive?

what if we took 1 allstar from the team with the best record in each conference and had then pick 11 players for their team, and whoever's team wins gets HCA in the finals?

For example, Lebron picks blake griffin,Bynum, wade, etc Durant picks kobe, Howard, rose etc and which ever side wins gets HCA in the finals

its kinda like baseball in which their ASG has playoff implications

would you be on board?

Thats not revolutionary, its already like that in baseball. Doesn't make sense for NBA.

No.

Imagine the 96 bulls( dont know who won the asg, but dont care, is just an example) having no homecourt in teh finals after busting their buts the whole season because of an stupid game.

That would be kind of stupid.

The players still wouldn't care unless it was 7 home games

players who have no chance of making the finals wouldn't give a **** and be a weak link on their team.

My lord, what a misuse of the term 'Revolutionary'.

MLB beat you to it.

So did Kevin Love, who suggested this last week.

I'd rather see an NHL style fantasy draft.

I think the ASG is fine. The issue is All Star Saturday Night

Not to mention the fact that players who aren't in any contention for the finals might not try

No.

Give the MVP of the all star game $100,000

In baseball you don't risk to much injury from game to game and there really isn't anyway to not play the same way the same way they'd normally play.

In the NBA players are not going to go all out, and it would be stupid to ask them to.

No.

Give the MVP of the all star game $100,000

That would just makes guys hog the ball way too much, also where is this money coming from.

Not to mention, you cant mix conferences if HCA were at stake. Why would DRose want to help Kobe win the western conference HCA?

AceMan

There's no way this could ever happen for a million reasons, and all things considered it's for the best, you know how to get the players to care? Give the MVP an opt out clause after the season. It'd also be cool to see which players care (and want to opt out) and which ones don't. Imagine the media frenzy that would follow if LeBron went off for 50 and won the MVP. Again it's probably for the best that this wouldn't happen, but it would be really cool.

Give the MVP of the all star game $100,000

or maybe just the player with the highest fantasy points?

Not really revolutionary as baseball has been doing this for several years now.

In my opinion, All Star weekend in all of the major sports are kind of a joke. It's more of a resting period so players can get ready for the second half of the season

I think a better approach would be to make the NBA more like college basketball. Eliminate conferences in the playoffs, and just let the best 16 teams into the playoffs. Better yet, let's just let Hollinger decide who gets in.

Here's a better idea. Each player from the winning team has all technical s rescinded and immune to future suspensions.

*they would still pay the fines though.

The allstar game is entertaining enough. It showcases the stars offensive talents and is fun to watch the highlight alley oops and crossovers. No one really cares about watching a defensive struggle out there I think the game is fine the way it is. Dont let the old people trash it cause of the flashy style and high flying dunks in it that fans like to see

Rad_Racing

Not good in baseball and would not be good in basketball. It's only an exhibition game.

I think it's the best All-Star game of the major sports although I don't watch hockey so  The Pro-Bowl is definitely the lamest/most pointless considering it's not even really football.

The only thing you might change about ASG is to have a fantasy draft. It's about the best in the league going out and showing you the stuff they do in practice when coach isn't watching. Saturday needs help and Friday needs a much better GM than Shaq

why would ANYONE want this? its ridiculous in baseball and it'd be ridiculous in basketball. its a meaningless game and supposed to be fun for the fans. PLEASE NBA don't ever do this.

They should make the NBA ASG worth like $1 mil to a charity of the winning team's choice.

That should make them more competitive.

No, it's not that entertaining. What makes crossovers, dunks, and oops fun is watching them when the other team is actually trying to stop them.

Horrible idea. You would have guys like Kobe and Lebron who take every shot. At least with baseball a batter only comes up every 9 at bats.
