That was a fantastic run to watch.

As a Knicks fan the last lockout season was a fun ride.

As a Wiz fan, the season we went to the playoffs beating the bulls in the first round, also the first time in the playoffs we faced Lebron and the Cavs, pretty good series even though i already the outcome. And Kobe's 5th ring purely because of Ron artest thanking his psychiatrist lol

Most people are pretty young here. My favorite season was 06-07. Warriors only make the playoffs after a crazy run after the allstar break then completely handled the Mavs, who were the favorites and had the MVP.

But the OP doesn't ask for favourite seasons that you've witnessed, it asks for your expertise about favourite seasons ALL TIME. I didn't see Bill Russell or Oscar Robertson play but one of those could be one of my favourite seasons all time right?

2000 (first season I watched every game my team played, LAL vs Portland WCF, Carter in the dunk contest), 2001 (Lakers playoff run), 2010 (LAL/Boston seven game finals).

seasons i haven't witnessed wouldn't be in my top three, as i have no personal connection to them.

Exactly.

My top 3 are

2001

Beating Iverson in the Finals and going 15-1 in the post season.

2004

I know we lost, but it was pretty cool to have Kobe, Shaq, Payton, Malone. and the .4 shot from fish was EPIC!

and 2010

Of course, So glad I can say i saw lakers defeat boston in the finals and get sweet, sweet Revenge! :win:

i'd have to say '98 too. that was the first time i remember the epicness of playoffs w Pacers Bulls in the ECF, with LAL/Utah in the WCF. ECF that year is still one of the best series ive ever seen.

Hard to pick a season as your favorite all time if you were not alive to experience it in its entirety.

I look forward to some of the older posters responses.

No. No it couldn't. I mean I guess on paper....but that's just weird. How can you put one of those seasons ahead of one that you got to experience in it's entirety, rooting for a team through all the ups and downs, experiencing it in the moment? I'm a Heat fan above all else, so my favorite seasons are:

1. 2005-2006: The year we won the championship. Shouldn't take much more explanation than that. Wade was absolutely magnificent.

2. 1996-1997: Road Warriors. New additions of Dan Majerle, Jamal Mashburn, Voshon Leonard. That was the year Miami surprised everyone with their 61-21 record, only to be ousted by MJ in the ECF. Also the start of an epic rivalry with the Knicks. Also the start of the Shaq-Kobe era.

3. Tough call between Wade's rookie season, Shaq's 1st year here, Wade's 08-09 resurrection, and this past year with the big 3.

These are my (homerish) top favorites:

1996
Jordan comes back to the game for his first full season back and Rodman joins the bulls. They start the season 45-4 and go on to have the best season ever at 72-10 and win a championship dominating the competition. Definitely my favorite nba season.

1991
Bulls first championship year with Magic Vs Mj in the finals.

It really is a tossup between the other championship years. I couldn't pick just 1 of them as there were great moments each year.

92-93 Suns KJ,Barkley,Chambers,Thunder Dan.
04-05 Suns Nash winning his first MVP. First year of Run and Gun Suns.
09-10 Suns playoff run getting to the WCF was fun to watch.

Pick any of the many consecutive seasons when the Lakers went to the NBA Finals. Even the years when we may have lost. All are the best years of my NBA life.

1. 1994-95 Shaq vs Dream
2. 1995-96 Shaq vs MJ
3. 2008-09 Dwight vs Lebron

Honorable mention: 2005-06 - Kobe (35.4), AI (33.0) and LBJ (31.4) lit it up all year long

They have this weird thing called Google and another weird thing called iTunes where you can search for anything you like. Try it. ;) There's no such thing as a "song you've never heard" any more. Same with basketball if you're resourceful enough.

Really? If you were a ball fan you could research that couldn't you? Or is this forum really damned to be about the last 2-3 years of NBA ball? That would be sad.

Thanks Captain Obvious, we're obviously assuming you don't look these things up or else you've actually experienced them. Stop trying to be a smartass and assuming just cause you're a mod you can't be wrong.

I would have to say 2010 getting the trophy against Boston
Then I would go with the first year of Lebron going to the Heat since he go so much **** for it
Finally I would say last season since Yao finally retired

But really, 2007, 2008, 2010 were all exciting seasons for me. The Celtics were finally relevant.

2010-2011 was a great season. It really brought the NBA up a lot in popularity. A lot of great stories from the Heat big 3, emergence of the Bulls and Thunder, Knicks bringing the tradition back to New York, Memphis's run in the playoffs, and most importantly the Mavericks taking down the favorites in the finals. It was also one of the most exciting trade deadlines of all time with Melo, Deron, and Perkins all changing teams.

'66-'67 Wilt beats Russell.

'71-'72 Wilt and 33 game winning streak

'82-'83 Moses, Julius and "Fo-Fi-Fo'

If I had to figure in the Nets' ABA seasons of '71-'72 (obviously my favorite time for Pro Basketball), '73-'74 and '75-'76, it would more difficult to pick a top three.

Nets' '01-'02 season would be up there also.

99 lockout season (that's when I fell in love with basketball). I remember everything that happened that postseason.

2001 - Was still head over heels for the NBA and the Mavs made the playoffs and beat the Jazz in the first round.

Probably last season (obvious reasons). But I have to admit the Mavs winning the finals last year was more of a relief than it was "bliss." They underachieved for so long.

But my most memorable moment was the kobe lob to Shaq at the end of that comeback against the Blazers. I remember being so pissed and at the same time knowing something special was going down.

1.) The 2011-2012 OKC Thunder.
2.) The Miami Heat when they beat the Mavs in the Finals, Wade was simply amazing!
3A.) When Nash won MVP and everyone knew it should've been Kobe's! Kobe came into that playoff series with a vengeance! He took the Suns to 7 games, hit two buzz beaters to win and send the game into OT, and did it all with a starting line up of Smush Parker, Luke Walton, Odom, and Kwame Brown!
3B.) Lakers the year they beat the 76ers. LA only lost 1, yes 1 playoff game that year, dominated the league!

Here are probably my top 5

I would say

1. 1998 (You had the old guys and then the new guys up and coming in the league. MJ, Hakeem, K.Malone, C.Barkley, C.Drexler, P.Ewing all on there way out of the league going for another title or a title and then you had the up and coming guys like Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant making imprints on the game)

2. 2011 (Lakers going for a 3 peat, the Heat trio formed, young guys in Rose and Durant near the top of the league, the Celtics being good, Spurs being good, and then you major upsets in the playoffs. Dallas over LA and Miami, Grizzlies over San Antonio to name but a few.

3. 1988 (A team went thru 3 game 7's to win the title, Detroit finally surpasses Boston, Nique and Bird dual. MJ to round 2, etc)

4. 1991 (MJ vs Magic finals arguably two greatest ever playing, MJ beats Pistons (2x defending champs), Lakers knock off Portland. Pacers and celtics battle in round 1. Detroit and Boston battle again. Bunch of stars in there primes (MJ, Magic, Hakeem, Malone, Barkley, Drexler, Robinson, Ewing, Isiah, T.Hardaway, Kevin Johnson to name but a few)

5. 1993 (you had 4 of the opening 8 rounds that went the distance. Some guys at there peak in MJ, Hakeem, Barkley. Epic Conference Finals in both conferences and an epic finals performance)
