View Full Version : Who Wins An Actual All Star Series?

If each conference had to build a team to play against the other in an actual 7 game series with real stakes (I don't know what they'd be, use your imagination) with all of the real elements of a series (i.e coaching, HCA etc...) then...

Who makes each roster? What are their rotations?

Who coaches each roster? Who are the assistants

What arena does each conference use as their home court?

Who wins the series and why?

Well I'd assume the rosters to be the current All-Star Game roster with the coaches being the same as well. They could play in Miami and LA?

East wins. More star power.

I don't like to speculate, I'll just watch the game and see who wins

Nah that wouldnt work,... star power is good for fancy dunks and highlights on ESPN, but that alone is not enought to win you a 7 game series... I wont pick a winner but I would love to see the likes of Kobe, Dirk trade punches against the new breed of superstars in a 7 game series.

For the East, you put LeBron twice and you didn't even put Melo or Amare?

And for the West, you put Shawn Marion twice (one of those times at SG)

East wins... Star power, Deffensive minded coach, deffensive minded team, with the best defenders at differents positions. I mean, you have Howard, Lebron, Iguodala, Wade, Garnett, Rondo Rose, deffensive beasts and then you can throw Luol Deng depending on the team, a LOT of versatility, a lot of closers and 4 of the 6 top players in the league.

For the sake of this i'm assuming 15 Man Rosters and that everyone is healthy. Benches are in no particular order in terms of minutes

West:

Starters - Paul, Kobe, Durant, Dirk, Bynum

Bench - Griffin, Westbrook, Aldridge, Duncan, Parker,
Love, Nash, Gasol, Gasol, Manu

Coaches - Popovich, Carlisle, Brooks

Arena - Staples Center

East:

Starters - Rose, Wade, Lebron, Melo, Dwight (All Star Starters)

Bench - Smith, Rondo, Horford, Amare, Bosh, Williams,
Hibbert, Pierce, Allen, Iguodala (I'd also Take KG
in place of someone on this bottom line)

Coaches - Rivers, Thibodeau, D'Antoni (offense)

Arena - Madison Square Garden

In a 7 game series I'd have to pick the west. The scoring duo of Kobe and Durant can match/exceed Lebron and Wade. The play making of a paul/nash combo would be just absolutely insane. Dirks ability to score in any way imaginable and ability to space the floor with the 3 is huge. The only clear cut advantage for the east offensively from the starters is Howard but even with that this year Bynum is playing some of his best basketball (In no way shape or form suggesting Bynum > Howard) Westbrooks athleticism off the bench would trouble Rose to disrupt him offensively (once again Rose>Westbrook) As for the benches a Healthy Duncan/parker/manu line is dangerous by itself if not just for the experience, combined with the Athletic ability of westbrook/Griffin and ability to rebound with Love/Gasol Squared would be a lot to handle.

Thats my two cents I'd pick the west but it would be a very close and very entertaining series.

The only way players take the all-star game seriously is if you add real valuable stakes to it, like the winner gets home court advantage for the NBA Finals or something like that.

I think the west would win just due to their size. Bynum, Gasol bros., Love, Blake, Aldridge, Dirk? That's insane right there.

If Thibs is the Eastern Conference coach in this game and he has Dwight, LeBron and other top defenders at this disposal along with elite offense players its the East's game to lose

Kobe, duncan and dirk combined have more rings then the entire eastern conference. They have the killer instinct and championshp pedigree needed you really cant go against that.
