Just heard about it via Twitter. La Confora over at NFL.com says the two are "deep" in talks and that the Seahawks are not scared to apply the Franchise Tag on Lynch if talks break down.

Imagine if the Hawks actually "tagged" Lynch.

GREAT NEWS... Hopefully this gets done soon!

Tagging Lynch would cost about $7.7M this year.

Signing him to a deal worth $5-6M/year is the optimal #'s. The difference would be enough to bring in another mid-tier talent. Let's get it done!!!

I think Lynch ends up signing for around 5 years and $6-7M. He's not one of the "elite" running backs but I still see him getting big money.

I'd say he's in the lower tier of elite running backs.

Also, he's hitting his prime right now. At 26, he's got 3-4 years of the best football of his life (including last season) ahead of him barring injury.

He will get 3 years and 20 million. I am fine with this.

4yr/$20-24M is my guess ($10-12M guaranteed)

Were in good position here. We can franchise Lynch if needed, and if we somehow lose Lynch, then Richardson should fall to us...Hopefully.

I don't know if he "should" fall. I think there's a small chance he makes it to 12, but I'd definitely put it in the against the odds column.

If we lose Lynch then we have to grab Richardson if he's there, you just have to. If he isn't there, you have to go pass rusher.

There is NO way we lose Lynch. We pay the $7.7M to franchise him and call it a day.

I don't want to seem like a NEGATIVE guy, but I get bad vibes about Richardson. I have a feeling he's going to be very similar to Darren McFadden and while he plays, he'll be a MONSTER, but he'll be so injury riddled he can't finish a season

I heard that franchise tags don't always work. Something like if the Steelers franchised Wallace they could still lose him.

If we franchise Lynch a team can take him, BUT they'd have to give us 2 1st rd picks. No one is going to give up that for him
