I first noticed him when he was playing against the Knicks on national TV. man was he tearing New York's front line apart! Today, he dominated my Rockets and had the best game of his career against us...he had 30 points on 65% shooting, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 3 steals.

Like Lin, he just recently broke into the starting lineup and is averaging 18 points and 11 rebounds for the month of February. Real or no?

ManRam

has strung together a bunch of flat out dominating games. playing alongside rubio and love doesn't hurt, that's for sure, but he's filling that position out remarkably well.

the wolves are a great wing away from potentially contending in the next few years. rubio can lead a team, love does everything (defense?) and pek is a monster inside. they have nice depth, but they need that wing who can get the ball in his hands and score, and score, and score. they have a great core, and pek needs to be considered a part of that.

Nah man, if Pek keeps this up they dont need anything, they just need to grow together. If your only weakness is not having a great 2 then your contending, the fact that they will contend down the line is a huge plus for them because the powers out West are aging.

I don't know. i think wings are invaluable these days. sure, a great big man (or two) helps a ton, but that scoring wing is invaluable. they have nice depth at SG/SF, but if they could upgrade, they'd be amazing.

who knows though? they're young, they'll get better, and they might have two future top 5-10 players on their team. we'll see...but if anything holds them back, it will be the lack of a scoring/game-changing wing. maybe i'm getting picky because this team is in its infancy, but yeah...

i agree with you.

anyone like

Eric Gordon, Kevin Martin, OJ Mayo, Jason Terry, Demarr Derozan, Courtney Lee, Wes Mathews, Anthony Marrow, Ray Allen, even a guy like Jason Terry or Ben Gordon..

notice all these guys can handle the ball.. which is a key thing Wes struggles badly to do.

i like the fact Wes Johnson is slowly coming to life with his jumper.. but hes still not the guy i want spending a lot of time at SG

i havnt been able to watch him in person but his stats are insane, the thing i love most is the amount of offensive boards the guy gets...this year he is averaging more offensive boards then defensive that is very rare for a player in my eyes he is constantly giving his team second chance opportunities.

He had trouble adjusting to the less physical NBA and ended up with more fouls than minutes as a result.

Rubio deserves credit for getting Pek involved and showing his value to the team, but it's Pek's post moves, deep position and soft touch that are putting most of the points on the board.

I picked him up in fantasy, the rubio effect has been very good to him. There are very few players in this league that make everyone around them better. Nash, Rubio and Lin as of late have been achieving this. I wonder what Rubio could do with Darco : )

So Rubio made him stop fouling at an alarming rate and learn how to rebound? Stop it. Now.

Pekovic has learned to control his physicality, is a terror around the rim, establishes great position every play, and has become a legit rebounder. There is a reason he was the #31 pick in a draft where ANY team that had that pick was taking him. He is a brute with good footwork and soft touch. He is slowly proving he belongs on the floor with any center. When you outplay D12 noticeably, you are a player.

Well, if he played the same minutes last year as this year his stats would be nearly identical, but stats aren't everything. Last season was Pekovic's first in the NBA and there was a huge learning curve to overcome coming from the Euro League, so for him to look a little lost out there was understandable. Pekovic has been better this season, no doubt, but I would blame that more on Adelman's pick and roll offense than Rubio's great passes.

Im Serbian and Pekovic is montenegrian but he is a serb. The pic of the tatoo has the four cs if you look closely, but also he played for the serbian national team a few years back, the under 21 team. You can call him Montenegrian, but most Montenegrians consider themselves Serbs... Its like if texas went independant tomorrow, sure it might say someone is from texas and they might play for the texas national team, but they are americans still.

Dnovakovic099

Also, you might not know this but montenegro became a country just a few years back and obviously pekovic wasnt born there because it was all yugoslavia. It gets kinda confusing because most countries in that region dont have the same borders so what people are vs were they were born is real hazy. For example I was born in bosnia but im serbian.

when he did get extended playing time last year, that part was there. But his huge rate of fouls drew him off the floor, and made him play far less aggressive on the glass offensively. But yeah man, he has confidence, the refs respect, so he is just going at it. His scoring efficiency is way up, because he is the one drawing fouls now, getting to the line, and he is establishing such good position down low, its as simple as turn and lay it in.

Yugoslavia didnt exist under that name until 1929, theres a GREEAT Chance , pekovics grandparents were born before that date, so, they would not be Born Yugoslavinas.

Dont mess bout European history with an european , son.

Lol why is this a history lesson all of the sudden. It doesn't matter what the country was called when his parents and grandparents were born. But since you wanna know, his parents were born in the 50s and his grandparents in late 20s, early 30s... It doesn't change the fact that he's an ethnic Serbian, which doesn't change the fact that he's also Montenegrin. Montenegrins are Serbs as well. Just like Austrians are ethnic Germans. Just like Northern Irish are Irish. Just like Cypriots are Greeks. Just like Taiwanese are Chinese and this can go on for some time. A name on a piece of paper is not stronger than the ethnic origin of someone.

Biggest reason for Pek's success this year, outside of good coaching and a good point guard, is the fact that he is staying OUT of foul trouble and staying ON the court.

[QUOTE=Chronz;21002266]So your saying Pek sucks without that PG?

[QUOTE]

check his performance last year.

Don't even man. He was a rookie last year. He showed good potential, but switching from where he played to here is a big difference. He couldn't stay on the court because he always got in foul trouble. Jack Sikma, one of Adelman's guys, has been amazing with Pekovic. Obviously a guy like Rubio helps, he helps everyone, but you can't say that everything that Pekovic is doing is because of Rubio.

I know you are obsessed with Rubio, and I like the guy a lot, but he isn't the only reason as to why Pekovic is doing this.

Pekovic is a beast. I have never seen a basketball player built like that before. I think he will be a servicable center although he looks small for the center position. I am not sure if its because he has such a huge chest and it takes away from his length or if hes really not 7 feet. When he stood next to Kevin Love he looked like a dwarf on roids lol.

Either way in a league with very few centers and a lot of PFs playing out of position he will prove to be a hot commodity. With Kevin Love beside him and Ricky "overrated" Rubio facilitating he can continue to produce under the radar. Hes a great piece to any team looking for future success.

I went to the Wolves-Rockets game the other night, and he is the same height as Dalembert, so he is tall enough. Problem is, he can't jump over a pile of pee, so he will always be reliant on burying his guy under the basket and good footwork. But he hasn't had any problems yet.

Rubio overrated? Mmkay. I think nearly any team would love to have him as their rookie PG.

Dude is close to 300 lbs. He will have no problems boxing out and getting rebounds. My only issue is, is he long enough to contest and block shots? And no, Rubio is not overrated. He exceeded my expectations offensively. I knew he would get his 10 assists but he has more moves offensively than I anticipated.

He is an average shot blocker. Nothing more, nothing less. He tries hard on defense, is getting better, but we will never be talking about him as an all defensive team candidate. The Wolves would be better off getting rid of Darko and getting a shot blocking leaper to play off the bench for Love/Pek.

Darko is finally where he belongs. On the bench next to Randolph. Hopefully Wes Johnson finds a place next to him shortly.

He's definitely going to be in line for the MIP award if he keeps this level of play up, but Lin is obviously a favorite for that the way he's been playing. Its curious though that both these guys just sort of took off part way through the season, usually you see this type of thing earlier in the season.
