View Full Version : Your team vanishes? ADOPT-A-TEAM!

Hey folks,

I was watching the T'wolves last night.. and... I was enjoying myself :speechless::D

but it got me thinking... man, if the raptors ever went away, I would have to seek refuge with this Minnesota team.. I like so much about their roster...

So, I know it's been done and it won't be the last one but the reason for the thread: if your team ceased to exist, where would you go? What other team would you adopt?

for me, it came down to Minny, Clips, or Thunder... all three have some real engaging players that I could root for on an individual level..

Nuggets, Blazers, Sixers or Wolves...

Great thread. I like the Nuggets. Great Coach, great FO, and the team is very promising with no big egos. They were smart enough to trade away the one superstar that held their team back before he walked. Just smart franchise all around.

Since I've always liked the Knicks and Melo being one of my favorite players I gotta go with them.

benzni
02-17-2012, 10:49 AM
even though I could not watch them from my area, probably OKC.

one because they are good so I guess I would jump on the bandwagon
two because the players they have are very likeable. The first year they were there when they were aweful, I rooted for them a little so nothing would change

Well I've been closely following OKC/Seattle since they had the Kemp/Payton duo in the early/mid 90s.

They've been my "Western Conference team" for as long as I can remember.

I do really enjoy watching the Wolves play as well, though.

nstojic
02-17-2012, 11:32 AM
I am left wondering how many more votes Portland would have on there if you inserted a healthy Roy and Oden, playing up to their respective potentials... food for thought...

First off if the Lakers left town I would probably have to kill myself but I would pick a good way to go out for sure;).

However, in the event that guilt and sense over ride than I would pick probably both the Warriors and the Knicks. The Warriors because well their "Warriors" and the Knicks because how can you not want to watch every team bring their best at MSG.

I would have to root for OKC. My Dad was from OKC and never got to see a pro team in there before he was killed.

On top of that, I love Durant's attitude and drive to succeed. And James Harden went to my Alma Mater (ASU), so I am a big fan of his.

Captain Moroni
02-17-2012, 12:22 PM
The NETS only because they will be in BROOKLYN next season. That is pretty cool. Of course we would suck, but being a Knicks fan I have been well prepared for it.

I'd probably have an east and a west team. East would be the 76ers since I've always liked them. West would be either the Nuggets (liked them since the AI days) or Houston. Hoping it doesn't come to this though...

Great thread. If the Suns were gone, the most likeliest teams I'd root for would be: Minnesota, New York, or Charlotte.

Charlotte because: 1. The color orange 2. Kemba Walker
Minnesota because: 1. Kevin Love 2. Ricky Rubio 3. Derrick Williams
New York because: 1. Amar'e Stoudemire 2. Josh Harrelson 3. JEREMY LIN (4. Melo is the only NBA player I've met in person and took a picture with)

Cal827
02-17-2012, 03:29 PM
Probably Knicks or heat for me. Knicks have such incredibly loyal fans and Amar'e/Wade are two of my 3 favourite players in the league now.

RCarlson85
02-17-2012, 03:29 PM
I can't really imagine watching the NBA without the Heat. Good thing this is only a hypothetical thread. I voted for Portland. I've always like Aldridge, Wallace, and Camby. They just seem to be a good young team that's exciting to watch. I'm originally form MN, but have never liked the wolves that much. They would probably be someone I would consider minus the Heat.

I don't know. There are a lot of teams I like...

I'd LOVE OKC if it weren't for KD (I know, I'm weird...I don't hate the guy, but I'd love them if they were a bit more of underdogs and Russy and Harden were the two best players). Minnesota is a ton of fun. Portland maybe

I'll also root for LeBron-led teams so long as he doesn't get in my team's way.

EDIT: Denver too...I've really loved them since Melo left.

In all seriousness, i would pick the Raptors. I know how screwed up that sounds but if they bring back those 1998/1999 Raptors jerseys, oh my god I would worship that team in the second. Those were my favorite (besides lakers of course :D).

Yeah I know they suck, but damn those jerseys...

They made a habit the last 2 years of getting all my personal draft choices: Hibbert, Collison, George and Stevenson. They have a nice starting lineup.

Trueblue2

I wouldn't be able to pick one favorite team other than the lakers. I have favorite players on other teams, but I don't have a second favorite team. If I had to pick it would be probably.

Denver
Memphis
Philly
Minnesota
Golden State

In that order. But that could all change based on roster moves they make.

Man,if i can ask you, just out of cuorisity, why you root for Twolves?Any special reason? You are one of my favorite posters so i was wondering.

I lived just west of Minneapolis (Hopkins, Wayzata, Plymouth) from 1979-1984, and again from 1986-1995. My Mom, and both sisters live just west of Minneapolis in Edina, my best friend in Long Lake. So they are my childhood team.
