View Full Version : Report: Metta World Peace becoming a lockerroom distraction; teammates scared of him

Fresno
02-14-2012, 04:11 AM
" ...World Peace is "walking around all crazy-like. We're just waiting for him to go off," one Lakers player recently told FOXSportsWest.com, speaking on the condition of anonymity.

Added another teammate, also requesting anonymity: "He's always talking about how he should be playing no matter how bad he's shooting, but he can't figure out that when he takes bad shots and misses eight in a row it puts us in a hole."

"There are a lot of guys in here who'd just like to see him gone," one player told FOXSportsWest.com on the condition of anonymity. "I think we'd definitely be a better team if everyone didn't have to walk on eggshells when he's around."

One of the dumbest "acquisitions" ever.

You're right, all that stupid acquisition ever did was basically shut down Paul Pierce in the 2010 NBA Finals and seal the deal with that 3 in the final minute of the game of game 7. Or, don't forget the 20 pts and 5 stls. Oh, don't forget the game 5 game winner against PHX of the WCF.

....

Acquisition = great

Contract = horrible

ill believe it when Bryant address it, when he's traded, or if he's suspended by the team. it's all media BS until further notice.

I'm glad the Lakers have him. He shot them out of countless games and nearly did so in every other game in which he didn't. He could have built entire countries with all the bricks he's laid.

The Lakers won in spite of him, not because of him.

The guy is a huge negative at this point of his career. He's useless on offense and his defense is deteriorating as time passes. Add in the personality problems and no team should wanna touch this guy with a 10 foot pole. Probably the only reason he's still somewhat noteworthy is because of his weird name change.

If I were the Lakers, I'd cut him immediately. Start Barnes at small forward and have Luke, as bad as he is, back him up.

Who the hell is Metta? You mean Artest?

CityofTreez
02-14-2012, 02:21 PM
No surprise. Artest is as selfish as they come, even when is successful.

He was having his best years in Sac, and still was a distraction in the lockerroom. Corliss Williamson supposedly shut him up in Houston after a loss. Nobody on the Lakers roster could set him straight, artest will most likely be traded.

Think the lakers have some players that dont like the way the current season is going for them and are looking for a scapegoat. Not kobe, but i could def see a player like bynum or something who hasnt had a rough season with his team since being in the nba doing something like that...than again...i really just dont like bynum ha

Teeboy1487
02-14-2012, 02:43 PM
I don't believe this. MWP is very popular among his teammates and he embraced the sixth man role this year at the beginning of the season. Barnes and Ebanks did not get it done, so he is starting again. He has shot pathetically at best this year, but his defense has been pretty good since he returned to the starting lineup. I just hope he can find his stroke. He is still the best defender on the team.

However, if this is true, cut him, call his psychiatrist, and pray.

kozelkid

Meh. Peace would definitely win. I'd give it two rounds at most.

Peace and Barnes would be more entertaining imo. Granted, Metta has a enough lb's over Barnes, but both are probably two the of toughest guys on that team.

At first, I loved when they acquired Artest, I knew trading Ariza was a mistake but I figured if they were going to win another title, Ronny would have played a big part, and he did. I respect what we got out of him in the beginning but what were getting from him now really has hurt his image as a Laker and the value he brought to us when we first got him.
Ariza made a name for himself as a Lakers the first year they won, he was much younger and he would've received a lot more recognition if he had stayed a Laker through out this whole time. I would much rather have re-signed him to a 5 year deal then deal with this "world" of craziness.

Crazy how underpaid he was considered when you guys first signed him coming off 7 game series against the champs. He has fallen off faster than any player I can remember.

But can't say it was a good acquisition. You guys did win the championship the year before with a younger, better, more versatile wing forward that was let go for Artest, its not like Metta put you guys over the top.

Well, not the first time i hear this. Heard that during his university career he has be throwing guns into his teammates' noses because they didn't pass the ball enough to him... Furthermore he is insane. Which normal guy could change his name into that crap he is having now? And sometimes it seems that he tries to copy Rodman but he is not even close with his talent and ability to shock...
