Jeremy Lin can get 8,000 threads so why can't Nikola Pekovic get one? I'm not a T'Wolves fan, by the way, but his recent effort deserves some recognition. He, Love, and Rubio are the only consistent players on a greatly improved team. With a low supply of good centers in this league do you think Pekovic will be a fixture for the Wolves for years to come and one of the top centers in the league?

Pretty sure he's had a few threads.

I was going to make a Pekovic thread, but it got deleted and replace with a Lin thread.

Pekovic is awesome. Love his game, such a brute.

Legit center in this league

I was impressed with him tonight against Howard. He had trouble with fouling last year, and so far he has seemed to clean that up.

Darko was a pansy again tonight. Hopefully Pek keeps it up so we don't have to endure Darko in the starting rotation anymore.

When Pek makes history in his first few starts let me know. Great player but using Lin as a scapegoat to make this thread is shameful. Just make the thread

Nikola Pekovic is a Viking.

He is 6'11 290 and he knows how to use it well. He shut down Dwight tonight. He has been consistent each night and somehow finds a way to play alongside Kevin Love and still put up fantastic numbers. He is an absolute behemoth

Anything relevant to add?
By the way, I'm not attacking Lin. I'm just saying, "Here's something different..."

a solid center is harder to find than a guard who can drive dish and shoot. lin overrated, i love what hes done just tired of seeing him on espn for 25% of the show.

pek is a beast btw, imagine him coming at you with an axe and you'll know

I've liked what I've seen from him. I don't think his foul troubles are over though, in the few games I've seen he's gotten away with a lot, refs will start calling those. He's def better than Darko though, I think he makes them better for sure.

A lot of people don't realize how good Nikola Pekovic really is .. 21.6 per for a big man coming off the bench is very impressive if you ask me .. even his per 36 minutes stats are pretty damn good 18.3 ppg 10.5 rpg (5.7 offensive rpg)

I actually like Pekovic, the guy is good. I just looked at his nba page and he's 6-11 290 lbs wow, the man must be powerful, because watching him play against the Knicks he didn't look fat at all (both with his play and appearance). I definitely think he will become a good center for the Wolves. Now all they need is a SG.

I don't think the thread should have started off with *****ing about Jeremy Lin though.

He has definitely been putting in work. If the T-Wolves make it to the playoffs, I can see them making some noise like the Grizzlies of last year. The Wolves are a dynamic 2guard away from being a problem.

He's been great for the Wolves but he haven't really been cut by any team and has a decent contract compared to Jeremy Lin.

The guy is as strong as you get, plays like a brute, but has a surprisingly high level of footwork and touch around the rim. He buries his guy with positional strength, and is highly efficient around the rim. He can hit free throws, and is becoming a decent rebounder on the defensive end (always a very good offensive rebounder). 17-10 over the last 10-12 games or so. His foul rate has dropped big time, and if he can continue to get the respect from the refs in regards to his physicality, he is for sure a legit starting center, and a good one at that, going forward.

By the way, going forward, you can refer to him as, Non, the bad guy from Superman II which I nicknamed him last year.

What's more valuable in this league? A PG who can go for 20 points on good shooting with 8-9 assists and 6 turnovers... Or A center who goes for 18 points, 10 boards, and a block or two a night while shooting 60% from the field?

Funny how the NY media draws the attention to the home team.

The real question is "who is the trend and who is the mirage?"

well, the OP is the one who brought up Lin for no reason at all. Everyone loves the Lin story, but yes, it gets old flipping to every single sports site in the universe and there is nothing BUT Linsanity. It makes non-Knicks fans almost wish he would have a terrible 3 game stretch and the Knicks got pounded so we can get back to regular coverage. And if Pek was playing for NY and did this, you can bet his coverage would be 20 times what it is.

All that being said, this thread is simply recognizing what Pek has done this season. I think he has a legit case for MIP if he continues his play. In fact, I think he would be a shoe in for the award if he finishes somewhere in the 15/9 area on this efficiency level.
