Steal(s) of draft: (In my opinion)

1990: 29 CHI Toni Kukoc, 45 IND Antonio Davis
1991: 24 BOS Rick Fox, 45 MIL Bobby Phills
1992: 24 GSW Latrell Sprewell, 29 NJN P.J. Brown
1993: 24 HOU Sam Cassell, 37 LAL Nick Van Exel
1994: 23 PHO Wesley Person, 46 MIL Voshon Lenard
1995: 21 PHO Michael Finley, 43 MIL Eric Snow
1996: 13 CHH Kobe Bryant, 17 POR J.O'Neal
1997: 42 PHO Stephen Jackson
1998: 32 SEA Rashard Lewis, 41 HOU Cuttino Mobley,
1999: 57 SAS Manu Ginobili
2000: 43 MIL Michael Redd
2001: 28 SAS Tony Parker, 30 GSW Gilbert Arenas, 37 DET Mehmet Okur
2002: 34 CLE Carlos Boozer, 55 SAS Luis Scola
2003: 29 DAL Josh Howard, 47 UTA Mo Williams
2004: 26 SAC Kevin Martin, 30 ORL Anderson Varejao, 43 NYK Trevor Ariza
2005: 30 NYK David Lee, 40 GSW Monta Ellis, 45 PHI Louis Williams
2006: 21 PHO Rajon Rondo, 24 MEM Kyle Lowry, 47 UTA Paul Millsap
2007: 23 W.Chandler, 26 A.Brooks, 31 C.Landry, 48 M.Gasol, 56 R.Sessions
2008: 17 TOR Roy Hibbert (wow, hibbert & bargnani nice cudhav front court)
2009: 17 PHI Jrue Holiday, 18 MIN Ty Lawson, 21 NOH Darren Collison
2010: 27 NJN Jordan Crawford, 39 NYK Landry Fields, (Jeremy Lin/Undrafted)
2011: 17 NYK Iman Shumpert, 25 BOS MarShon Brooks aka Kobe 2.0 (why danny why)

These guys were picked late 1st round or 2nd round, and still had/have good and productive careers than some of the players chosen ahead of them.

From 2008-present, its still a wait & see.

(The heat has #1st, 4th & 5th picks of 2003 playing for them, might as well try to get #6 & 7th, so unfair. lol)

Sorry but I had to put Lin on, i'm feelin' the hype too.

I have a hard time saying Kobe at 13 was a steal. Obviously did better than all of the guys picked ahead of him but 13th is still pretty damn high

Josh Smith (17) in 2004.

Jay Bilas actually said he would be a bust on national TV and he should be a 2-time All-Star by now.

Jose Calderon is a undrafted steal. Jamario Moon is not. He might be one of the worst players in the league.

This whole thread is full of homerism... The original poster has 3 of his 5 steals in the last 2 years as Knicks... Really?

And there should be some reality checks here people... a steal is only a steal if he is much better than where he is drafted in regards to other players available.

Roy Hibbert at 17 is not a steal. He is not a superstar talent.

Kobe Bryant was a steal. I am not a Kobe fan... but getting one of the top players ever just a few picks over Hibbert's pick is a huge difference in value.

Players like Michael Redd can be considered steals. Same for players like Ben Wallace.

Some of the other players were just good picks. Not steals. Especially those knicks in the last couple of years.

And on a side not, the last couple of drafts do need some time to pan out... someone mentioned Gerald Wallace. But if you look at it, he did nothing his first couple of years in the league. I was his biggest fan at that time... and he just looked a little lost. He was trying to do too much and didn't have a feel for the game yet.

So... there are probably a couple of steals that haven't lived up to their potential yet... but will.

Why did Toronto trade hibbert anyway?

There's no way of knowing that Toronto would have picked Hibbert if the JO trade didnt happen.

The trade was agreed to before the draft and Toronto picked Hibbert for Indiana because that's who they wanted.
