Pick one player from each tier from PSD's top 50 all time to make the best starting five possible.

I thought of that as well, but I figured my defense, rebounding, and passing ability on the roster didn't need a deep threat as much.

This team, defensively, would just be unbelievable, but then you throw in how crazy athletic they are from 2-5, how competitive and clutch West, MJ and Hakeem were in big games and how perfect MJ and Pippen complimented each other and this is just a no-brainer for me. The one defensive weakness is Lebron at PF, but I'm completely confident in his ability to guard the position, especially between Pippen and Hakeem, arguably the two greatest defensive players at their positions in the history of the game.

I was torn between picking Jordan and Stockton or Magic. Yes Jordan is the best player of all time but Magic can lead a team and play all 5 positions. He is a leader and a clutch performer and having the 2nd greatest player ever at PG is not to shabby and I believe he can play with any group of players. Also I believe when its all said and done Lebron will talked about in the same breath as the all timers and can play multiple positions so it gives you interesting matchup options. I chose Wade only because I needed a SG in that last group and I think Wade is the best SG of out of that tier.

This team gives you a ton of points, rebounds, points, blocks, and with more then 1 finisher.

Wade - tier 5
Jordan - tier 1
LeBron - tier 4
Malone - tier 3
Shaq - tier 2

Wade and LeBron can share ballhandling and distribution duties. Shaq, LeBron and Malone gives the team an incredibly physically intimidating front line with plenty of length. With MJ, LeBron and Wade you've got three of the greatest athletes in the history of the sport and all 3 can score from anywhere.

i just can't see having a team without Jordan, the greatest basketball player and competitor ever, on the team. With Robertson and James, you have two triple double machines on the team. I kind of wanted to take Garnett of James due to the height, but I think that James would get a work ethic boost with Jordan and would defer to him. I could have went with Malone over Barkley at PF, but I think Barkley is more athletic and would fit in better with this team. That left me with a Center in Tier 5, so I went with Ewing, who I don't think is that much of a downgrade from the other centers, and I think he could play well on a team like this.

This is a horrible team. Why the hell would you have Lebron, MJ and Scottie on the same team as well as Barkley and Hakeem?

First off having Lebron and Pippen together doesn't make much sense since both guys need to have the ball to be effective in setting up the offense. Barkley is mainly a scorer so are we going to insist here Lebron isn't going to shoot with MJ, Barkley and Hakeem on the team?

Huh? If Pippen can play with Jordan, I think he can play without the ball in his hands all the time. Whether their styles overlap or not, that team would ACCIDENTALLY win championships.

And Barkley was not mainly a scorer. He was a well rounded 2 way player.

Every single guy on those lists is a HOFer, that scores in vloume, they ALL take or took a bunch of shots. Outside of 2 or 3 of the PGS, and even those guys scored a bunch, every single pcombination would have to change their game. Those list are STACKED.

KingPosey
02-12-2012, 09:10 PM
It is really hard to not pick 5 guys that would win titles in their sleep from that list. Pretty much every combination possible would give you the most stacked starting 5 off all time.

It is debatable, but I truly think dirk is easily a top 20 player of alltime, probably top 18.

Players I would move him ahead of...and I think this is pretty easy to say with these 4,

LeBron
Garnett
Barkley
Mikan

Tim Duncan, Moses Malone, and Jerry West are up for deeper debate

Duncan, Moses, and West for which debate?

And Garnett I'm not so sure of or even Barkley. LeBron at this point and probably Mikan I think you have something there. Garnett & Barkley were too instrumental and played inspired ball on both ends
