View Full Version : Who is missing from the All-Star Team?

Ok... the teams are up. Some great palyers have finally got the respect the deserve (Iggy and LMA), but there seems to be some good players missing from the team?

Who do you think deserved a spot on the All-Star squad that didn't make it?

I'm throwing a vote in for Tyson Chandler in the east and Pao Gasol in the west... i really thought the Lakers would have three all-stars this season.

Based on his individual play he does deserve to make the team, but the teams record doesn't warrant two players from the Knicks making it.

Tyson Chandler doesn't have the numbers to be named an all-star. He's the anchor on defense and is a great peace to have on a championship team but 12 points 9 rebounds with 33 minutes per game?

West - Lowry, Rudy Gay
East - Jennings, Granger
D-Will should not be an All-Star

Here's what i don't get about the allstar game, people don't accept certain players cause they have bad records but then the players on bad teams who are playing as well as players on good teams likely won't make it to the play-offs so they will never get to shine. Winning matters most but its not everything. It's like if your team has a bad season that the nba says that you suck and no one cares about you. Demarcus Cousins in Sacramento is putting up 15 & 11. Andrea bargnani has put up career numbers of 23 & 6.5. But there's really no appreciation for their talent and efforts just cause their management is incapable of putting a superior team on the floor. Just my opinion but i think that there's something wrong with this system. It doesn't hurt to show a little appreciation for players on bad teams or poor record teams.

Typically, a player from a losing team needs crazy numbers to get in on the coaches vote, and Tyson doesn't have numbers that suggest he should be there over Hibbert for example.

Josh Smith is the most deserving player of an allstar bid and I think its a travesty that he wasnt selected. Not only is his team winning, but his numbers are RIDICULOUS! I believe he posted a 5 x 5 (at least 5 in 5 cats: pts, assist, steals, blocks, rebounds) game this season.

Luol Deng is NO allstar. I felt that since Chi was the best, coaches felt that they should have two allstars.

The winning thing has gotten carried away. I kno winning is important but Deng has the luxury to play with Rose, Noah, Boozer, etc which makes his job easy. When guys like Deron Williams (who alot of ppl are crying over having made the allstar game) has NO ONE on his team. I'm glad Deron made the team because he is FLAT OUT better than the other players and is still Top 5 PG in NBA (some would argue Top 2).

The selection process is based on G's not PG's and SG's. Nash and Parker deserve to be there. I wouldn't get to worked up about it though, thunder have it pretty good right now. Ellis and Lowry are still ahead of Harden in my books.

I think that most ppl have Lowry because he's a two way player. And the fact that Houston has a better record than phx helps too...but the coaches chose Nash and they're the experts so who cares....

Josh Smith is the most deserving. Also Pau Gasol. Rudy Gay is overrated. Gasol didnt make it because of the lakers record and his lack of touches which declined his stats (which isn't really his fault). Kobe's shooting too much and they're not getting Pau the ball enough. Yesterday's game against NY was clear proof of this. Kobe taking 29 shots on 38% while gasol only taking 10 shots. I wouldnt be surprised if Gasol were to seriously demand a trade soon.

19 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists on 45% shooting for a team missing their best player. He might be overrated by some people, but those numbers are good.

Those are decent numbers but Mark Gasol has been better than Rudy Gay this season. I dont know why people are saying Gay deserved to make it over Dirk. This is nonsense to me! People/the media are overrated him and the Grizzlies this season bigtime (especially TNT). I believe Shaq and Barkley both said it was a joke or travesty Gay didn't make it! Also I remember Barkley saying Dirk and Nash both didn't deserve it.

The Mavs have/had a better record than the Grizzlies by the day the reserves were announced. I know Dirk hasn't been too great to that point this season but he's still been better than Gay. Beisdes, Mark Gasol made it for Memphis. They dont need two allstars for a 500. team (at that time). Dirk making it is legit. The only other forwards in the West who maybe have a case over Dirk are Pau Gasol and possibly Millsap.

Nash is playing really well offensively, but Lowry is playing well on both ends and leading his team to 4th best record out West... Did you think the Rockets would be where they are? Enter Lowry, Kyle Lowry.

Yes Houston have really good players on there whole roster. And the best bench in the league. But to say Lowry is having a better season than Nash is just ridiclious and not true. However i cant blame you for jumping on the bandwagon, he started out playing at an all star level but he been average for at least a month now.

People hype him up like he's so great, when he really isn't. His advanced stats are pretty bad for an all-star http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/gayru01.html and his impact on the team hasn't been great at all. I personally think they're better off w/o him.
