Not that it's a surprise, but source says Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love is a West All-Star reserve.

because fans vote in the starters, and they didn't vote him as a starter?

Good to see they didn't penalize him because of his "suspension". Love deserves, probably should be starting but doesnt matter much.

If true, congrats! Finally some damn respect.

Because up until today...

Reuben Frank @RoobCSN

Iggy is only player in NBA history with 8000 pts, 3000 rebounds, 2500 assists and fewer than 1500 turnovers to never make an all-star game.

Might mean no Paul Pierce or Ray Allen...

But then again, Luol is constantly overlooked. I wouldn't be thattt surprised.

It'd be a shame not to have a player from the Sixers not make the all star game. They've been absurd this year.

I fully expects Roy Hibbert to make it this year as well. I'd be interested to see an opposing argument for this.

CudiOnMyiPod

If Lamarcus Aldridge doesn't make it, I'm starting a riot. Steve Nash and Gortat are both deserving but I have a hard time seeing multiple players from teams like PHX make it.

I don't think there's a clear cut backup center though, that's why I think he'll have a chance. Specially since we are #2 in the west, doesn't hurt his chances.

Parker should make it as well.

I'd like to see Millsap in this thing. Putting up some high efficient numbers.

It'll be quite something if Dirk doesn't make it (he honestly shouldn't) after winning Finals MVP last season.

I wouldn't argue against him myself, but I won't be that surprised if he doesn't make it. I imagine it would be in favour of Bargnani, but Chandler has a chance too, and maybe even Noah.

Yeah but it doesn't take away that he is still a top 6-7 player in the NBA and probably the most clutch player in the NBA as well. All Star games literally have ZERO bearing on how good a player is.

Wow, Joakim has got his numbers up so much in the last few weeks.

He's up to a 17.7 PER, 55.2 TS% and 49.4 eFG%.

Hibbert: 19.5, 53.6 and 50.9.

It's not the MVP, and therefore the player's value to their team doesn't really matter. It's about who the better player is. I happen to think that it's Deng. You may happen to think that it's Smith, but value to the team has nothing to do with All-Star selections.

sure smith is valuable to the hawks, but deng is just as valuable if not more than smith, prob equal to a degree. he is our best defender, our defense sucks with out him, thats why thib plays him a **** load of minutes to keep our defense at a consistent dominate pace, and he has been underrated for years. he isn't the flashy player you would see on SC top ten dunking the crap out of the ball, but he puts up great numbers quietly, and is a beast defender.

Kyle Lowry is overrated and truthfully I am gald he didn't make it. He does not deserve it over Tony Parker or Steve Nash. Tony Parker has been good this season and somewhat underrated (19ppg, 8apg) and the Spurs have the 2nd best record in the West. So yes Id say he deserves it.
Steve Nash is leading the league in apg with a scrub team averaging 15ppg, 10apg on 56% in only 31 mpg! And he's 38!. How arent those allstar worthy numbers? I know the Suns have a sub-par record but truthfully without him, they'd probably be a bottom 3 team in the west.

the only guy who even has a case for being Iggy's equal in perimeter defense is LeBron, and Iggy is the leader of an 18-8 Sixers team. While a case CAN be made for picking someone over Iggy, leaving a guy off who was shafted on the 1st team all defense last year, and has always been underrated in regards to winning accolades, was a no brainer in a year where some of the elite guys of the last 10 years have had a clear fall off.

When was Iggy better? When his team attempted to parade him as a #1 option on a good team? He has grown into arguably the best perimeter defender in the NBA for the wing position, rebounds, distributes, and can score with relative efficiency.

While Iggy doesn't scream All Star, he has been overlooked a long time, and its nice to see one of the better two way players recognized.

 well said. He has only been with the suns for a year and he is still on the rise he improved his game in the offseason and keeps improving his mid range jumpshot and he has a knack for rebounding and blocking shots. The only flaw in his game is that at times he tries to lay it up too much when he can clearly dunk over almost anyone in the league. Yeah man, I was pining in the Wolves trade thread to pry him out of Orlando, you beat us to it haha. He is really solid actually. You look at the stat sheet and say he's been better, I've watched every game he's played since his rookie year......this is the absolute best he's ever played. top 10 in double doubles leading the league in fg% at one point had the longest active streak of double digit rebound games. But idk thats just me maybe you could do some research first

Yeah but 'top 10' and 'at one point' are nothing when only 3 or 4 centers make it a year.
Amongst centers he's now 12th in FG%, 7th in ppg (9th per 40mins), 16th in rebound rate, 10th in blocks per game, etc. Really nice numbers, but not the kind that demand an All Star spot by themselves.
Moving away from numbers, he's playing on a bad team, with an exceptional PG, doesn't really create his own offense, etc.

I really like Gortat, but he just doesn't have the resume that demands an All Star berth yet.

Congrats to the big fella Roy Hibbert. Ellis and Josh Smith were probably the biggest snubs, but not everyone can make it I guess. Good teams overall.
