The New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers have contacted the Houston Rockets about acquiring Jonny Flynn, according to league sources.

No deal is imminent with either team, but both clubs are in desperate need of a point guard and have Flynn on their radar.

The Knicks have shown the most interest, sources say, and discussed a possible deal involving Renaldo Balkman and Mike Bibby. The Rockets were not interested.

Bibby, who was signed as a free agent before the season, can't be traded before March 1.

In addition to inquiring about Flynn, the Lakers have also shown interest in free agent Gilbert Arenas and Cleveland's Ramon Sessions.

Flynn, a 2009 lottery pick out of Syracuse, is the third-string point guard in Houston, where he backs up Kyle Lowry and Goran Dragic.

Flynn averaged 13.5 points and 4.4 assists as a rookie in Minnesota but has struggled since injuring his hip in his second season.

I can't imagine the asking price for Flynn to be very much. That being said I don't know how much of an impact he would be for a team like the Lakers or Knicks.

Don't see the Knicks or Lakers picking him up in all truth. I'm guessing Gilbert winds up in LA.

I'd give the Rockets a 3rd round pick

once something like this leaks it means both teams tried, failed to get what they wanted and the agent decided oh well it failed, lets leak this to help our client.

Jeremy Lin is the answer for the Knicks....JK

Still, I dont see Flynn being much of a help. I would love to get Sessions or Calderon, but I doubt it happens

Isn't Flynn like a career .250 shooter?

Want the Knicks to go after Jarrett Jack.

Sessions is way better than Flynn.

Balkman and Bibby must feel huge right now knowing that if you combine then they do not equal Flynn, a 3rd string PG :laugh2:

If anyone can revive Jonny Flynn's career its D'antoni. Depending on how Lin plays in the coming weeks i might not want Flynn eating up his minutes. Flynn never had the I.Q. to be a PG. I don't see him as a better option over Shumpert at this point. If Flynn doesn't have the Big East tournament he had, he would've been a late first rounder. (*cough* Kemba *cough*)
As much as Flynn is my boy, he doesn't have the size or smarts to be a productive guard in the NBA, IMHO. The athleticism was what he had going for him and one wonders if he'll ever be 100% after all the injuries.

People are too hard on him. He has a great rookie year but never got a real chance to come back and play well again.

He just needs an opportunity somewhere.

**** that. We already have enough ****** combo guards. The offer of Bibby and Balkman for flynn is basically saying "sure we will take Flynn, if he is for free." He won't be a Knick.

Great season? I'd say it was mediocre across the boards.
