I know most of you dont like these threads but what do you all think about his play this year? I think he's averaging 15, 10.. He might be legit but I hope he isn't just another Chris Kaman where he has a nice stretch then amounts to nothing

MIP player this year so far? Where does he rank as a center right now

he's playing with steve nash, who makes all of his teammates better.

Rank? Top half, definitely. Orlando never should have let him go, he would have been perfect Dwight Howard insurance.

Hey played really well in limited minutes behing Dwight Howard as well. There's a reason the Mavs threw a full mid level deal at him.

steve nash makes him look better, obviously. but with or without, he's a top 10 center in the league.

One of my favorite centers in the league.

Double-digit rebounds in 15 straight games. Nash doesn't have much to do with that :D

He won't be a most improved candidate because he was doing this as soon as he began starting for us last year. He can also produce without nash.
People probably aren't paying attention but gortat is the only guy nash is "making look better" this year. In terms of legit centers and not power forwards playing center position, he's probably top 5 or 7 in the league.
He defends, rebounds and can now post up and score. Most done without nash's help.

if he's so good, then he would've been offered more.

He took the best offer that a contender could throw at him. He was worth maybe $8-9M/yr given that no one knew if he could translate his game to more minutes. With how he's playing now in Phoenix he could top $10M/yr in value.

How many backup C's get offered more than a MLE?

Next time he's a FA I'm sure he'll be getting offered more than a MLE.

For sure, 12 million a year at least, even more depending on how the center position looks during his next contract year and if he gets even better.

I have some questions for everyone who thinks Gortat is only good because he plays with Nash.

In the games in which Nash hasn't played, Gortat still put up 15+ pts and 10+ rebounds. How do you explain that?

And if Nash makes everyone look so good, then why are the Suns 13th in West? I don't about you, but I don't consider 13th in the West "good"

And if he makes everyone else so good, then how come NO ONE else on this team other him and Gortat average double digits in points?

How Lopez who used to play with Nash sucked even when he played with him?

This is gonna sound wierd cause its coming from a Suns fan, but when talking about Gortat too many people overrate Gortat. Nash doesn't help Gortat on defense. Nash doesn't help Gortat on the boards.

2. Andrew Bynum
3. Marc Gasol

5. Roy Hibbert
6. DeMarcus Cousins
7. Al Jefferson

8. Marcin Gortat

9. Tyson Chandler
10. JaVale McGee
11. DeAndre Jordan

The guys from 2-7 are interchangeable and the guys from 9-11 are also interchangeable... Top 10 in my book.

Kaman has never been as good as a rookie Marcin so you don't have to worry about that.

When Nash was out he still played well. Nash makes everyone better, but he was good in Orlando too.
