I was wondering-
What do you think means more to a player a gold medal in the Olympics or a Championship ring from the NBA Finals?

I say ring because it would be harder to get IMO

I think a more reasonable comparison would be championship ring vs. hall of fame induction.

championship ring. far harder competition, usually a far longer commitment.

championship ring, but i'd rather have 1 ring and 1 gold medal then just 2 rings

Ring. Because its what you get paid for. Plus, you got superstar teammates to help you win a Gold Medal

I remember LeBron saying something like a medal is the best thing you can win? It was something along those words.
I would say ring though.

Maybe if it were hard for America to get a gold medal.

i think for a player.. it would be a ring.. for me.. i would obviously try for both..BUT.. i would rather have a gold medal..only bcuz the ring means ur the best in the NBA (usa and 1 canada team...hahaha) but the gold means ur the best in THE WORLD. plus its not like its common for nba players to be on the usa team.. only the best of the best make it there.

Ring... The only international championship i would want is la copa del mundo AKA world cup. Other then that i would say ring.

Easily a Championship ring, from an achievement level.

Ring. Takes team ball with few superstars. Gold Medal is a bit watered down due to the talent on those teams.

A better question is would you rather retire ringless but be inducted into the hall of fame? i.e:Malone,Ewing, AI someday....or winning a ring/multiple rings and not likely making it...i.e:Derek Fisher,Robert Horry, Bruce bowen etc..role players on great teams

Gold medal, nothing like the satisfaction of being known as the most elite players in the world, the true world championships IMO.

If you're not on Team USA then medal. If you are on Team USA or eligible to play on Team USA then ring.

Honestly, i'd say medal. It is one thing everybody values around the world no matter what sport you follow. You don't even have to follow sports to appreciate a Gold Medal. And no, you are not World Champions when you win the nba championship like they say you are all the time.

A ring isn't everything. Sure its nice to have and all but some guys played during the toughest era's which made it extremely difficult to get a ring. You don't have to have a ring to be considered great, a ring is more a team achievement. I mean, would i rather be Luke Walton than Patrick Ewing, Hell no.
