Smith is still stuck in China. While his sister sits in the stands each game and tries to start international incidents, Smith has been balling like mad on the court. Today, he went for 60 off the bench in a playoff game. Smith was 21-32 from the field, hit 14 of 18 three’s, 4 of 5 free throws, grabbed 8 boards and only turned the ball over 3 times.

21-32 FG
14-18 3pt
4-5 FT
8 rebounds
3 TO

i saw this earlier today, and didn't know it was off the bench. that's ****ing nuts, but the talent over there is trash, so there's no way anyone could do that over here. it's impressive at first, but if you think about it closely, it's really not. he'll be a great pickup for whoever signs him.

is the chinese three-point arc as long as it is in the NBA? or is it college level, or mid 90's "steve-kerr" NBA distance?

i have a hard time believing that anyone can shoot 14/18 from contemporary NBA distance, regardless of the competition. it has to be shorter for sure.

high school is 19'9"
college is 20'9"
NBA is 23'9"

looking at videos on youtube, and just making a judgmental call here.. it looks like it's 21'9" (just looks an inch further than college).

I don't care who its against but making 14-18 from the arc is just insane no matter if its against the chinese or not.

people don't realize the difference in distance and that's why this is being blown out of proportion.

I don't care if he is playing in China. I would have paid to watch that game live.

totally.

same thing applies to the percentages of all three point % in the mid/late 90's. Kerrs place in the record book deserves a fatty * for that reason.

No, its still impressive. I dont see anyone hitting 14 of 18 jumpshots from a foot inside the 3 point line in the NBA. Dude was on fire. And JR has range from over 30 feet, im sure he hit some deep ones.

Duhon would have went 18-14 from distance.

only in the NBA "bench" matters... It's basketball, you have unlimited subs there's no "bench"... Only the NBA has a starting 5 ritual, the rest of the world has a 12 man presentation if any at all

Bonzi Wells averaged 48 points a game over there in 08...

The 3 point distance is in FIBA regulations...

20.5 ft... It's 3 feet shorter than NBA distance...
