Sam Amick of Sports Illustrated reports that the Rockets "appear to be in the lead" for Chris Kaman.
Amick writes that the Rockets have had "extensive trade discussions" with the Hornets, but states that no deal is imminent between the two teams. The talks have reportedly involved Hasheem Thabeet and Jordan Hill, and it makes sense given the Hornets quest for youthful, cost-controlled talent. Kaman would give the Rockets a very capable backup behind Samuel Dalembert. Stay tuned. Feb 1 - 2:55 PM

How are they cost controlled? Both of their options were declined.

1 Expirer for 2 lower talent expirers?

What exactly is the benefit here for the Hornets?

Younger expirings who may make the team next year.

Kaman has played like crap and I do think its a low offer but we dont know what they are getting for him. Those guys have some sort of potential dont they?

Hill I believe has reached his peak, Thabeet doesn't really have a peak. I don't believe the Rockets would include Budinger, Dragic, Lee, Parsons, Morris, or Patterson for Kaman.

Jordan Hill can be a back up big for NOLA. thabeet just needs to retire

I don't think they have much potential, if any. Hill is a career backup, and Thabeet sucks.

Aside from that, Kaman, Hill, and Thabeet will all be unrestricted free agents this summer anyway.

Im pretty sure Kaman wants to start. Thought that was the reason for the trade, he wasnt happy about the lack of minutes. Hes played bad most of the time but if he had starters minutes at center he would still get rebs and blocks maybe 15 points a game

Monta is beast

There is going to be a 1st round pick involved.

Acquiring Kaman would be the perfect move for the Rockets to yet again be pretty good, but not contenders, and yet not bad enough to get good draft picks and rebuild.

Houston Rockets love that mediocrity don't they...

I don't get why they wanna get Kaman in the first place.. he's a great center imo and can block/rebound/score.. why not play the guy get his value higher and then trade him.. instead monty williams just sat him on the bench.. smh

HT and JH combine for 7.9 million and Kaman goes for 14. How does these numbers work.
