NEW YORK -- Phil Jackson's next title will be on the cover of his new book.

Jackson, the Hall of Famer who won 11 NBA championships as coach of the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers, is writing his memoir called "Eleven Rings," Penguin Press said Tuesday.

The book is tentatively scheduled to be out next year.

The 66-year-old Jackson is a 1,155-game winner whose career .704 winning percentage is the best in NBA history.

He retired from coaching after last season after the Lakers were swept in the playoffs by the eventual champion Dallas Mavericks.

Jackson previously wrote "The Last Season," published in 2004.

Definitely picking this up

Sacred Hoops was a masterpiece as far as basketball books go, if you haven't read it, check it out.

The Last Season, you could tell Phil was worn down by Kobe but still worth a read.

I would love to hear what happened behind the scenes during last year's playoffs

He is a tremendous writer. As ChiSox said, his previous books have been great reads. I am looking forward to this one.

Same. And I also read Sacred Hoops. Phil is a very philosophical person. Its a shame he had to go out Kareem style last season. :(

Agreed. I actually love Phil's views and the way he puts things.

Listening to Phil- soothing, funny, educational
Listening to David Kahn- annoying, feels like I am being talked down to, sounds like a damn lawyer.

or it should be titled "Jordan and Kobe never won a ring without me coaching them"

Not likely. I fully expect Jim Buss to be the villain this time around.

That'll be great, hopefully then we will get a real insight of that tumultuous 2007 summer with Kobe's trade demand.

Yeah, shortly after having to retire due to injury from the Nets in the late 70's, he became head coach in the early 80's of the Albany Patroons before becoming an assistant to Doug Collins in Chicago in the late 80's.

You can attribute his success with the Patroons from being a player and protege to Holzman's Knicks in the early to mid 70s.

Why would Knicks fans hype up Phil? Even if ya got him your cap is messed up with 3 players that dont fit the system. Not saying rest of the league teams will help you on your journey with trades. Just like if Howard is really wanting to rock with Stephen Jackson. Bucks can play hard ball. We been winning without him. Knicks yuck! Jordan ruled them then Thomas killed them. Teams will play hard ball in any trade with the Knicks. Ya Melo and Amar is way over paid! You gonna get junk in return for most trades. Knicks big 3 cant even handle little Jennings. Even without the new rules I wanted for small markets. We will just be smart and have a "team" game. No 3 man army. I dont care what anyone says. Its a team game yet. Yes its nice to have top players in the starting line up. But once your bench is D league and cant hold up whats the point? Everyone here will say yes my Bucks suck. But we are deep average team with top D team. If are shots are falling we will win. Our shots are falling we are winning. Team game. The big 3 hot stuff the thing and what not of this age will end soon. Luxury taxes will pave the way soon in two years. Teams wont help super powers any more. Us peons will make a stand and watch the big ones fall and fall hard. Us little guys are waiting! Wait! Wait! Charge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Miller time!!!!!!!!!!!!

when shaq left LA phil went runninI thought Jordan went to baseball cause of gambling charges during NBA season? It was a hush hush him retiring NBA cause he was getting charged then went onto baseball to kill time. Then after the ban was lifted "I'm back!" happened. Jordan excellent player in NBA. But as a GM horrible! Kwame Brown!!!!! Heck lets play with real cash in Monopoly! Bet I trade better then him on there.

Albany Patroons were CBA. As I understand it, he took over a flailing team midseason, and coached them to a championship season the rest of the way.

Ah yes, thanks for the correction man. CBA as in Continental Basketball Association.
