View Full Version : Would you trade a first round draft pick for Jose calderon?

Jose calderon has been rumored to be traded this season. Some teams could benefit from a veteran like calderon who knows how to run the team and make other betters. He also posses the skills to be low turnover prone and shoot when nessasary. He may not score that much but hes a solid floor general.
Hes currently averaging 10.5 points, 8.4 assists, shoots 35% from 3pt in 34 minutes. Obviously he is not worth a high draft pick but maybe something mid first round? I personally would give up the lakers draft pick for him. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/jose_calderon/

If I'm the Laker GM i trade the TE and a first for Jose in a heart-beat (if the contracts matchup, I'm not gona take the time to check). Or Toronto can take Blake/Walton plus the first.

That's actually pretty damn good. At least a much better upgrade anyway.

He's worth a lottery pick :D . Come on desperate contenders, you don't need picks when you're a contender! You need Calderon

the Knicks need him but can't afford him

He is certainly worth a lottery pick. Very underrated and everything you need in a point guard, especially for teams like lakers, knicks, or heat.

the knicks should have some balls and offer amare for jose and andrea.

they would become Much better right away, cause they would complement melo much much better and chandler would relief bargs defensive issues, like he did for dirk.

BC would never accept such a deal. He wants to rebuild and create greater financial flexibility for this upcoming free agency.

Yeah that's not happening. We are rebuilding, no need for Amare at all. Trade picks for Calderon and Leandro and we're good.

Lakers should go after him. He would easily average 10 assist feeding it to Kobe,Gasol and Bynum.

He sucks in the sim league. Hell no.

But IRL yeah if you are getting a low first, trade it for Jose.

If the Lakers trade for Calderon and include the first round pick it will not be a top 15 pick. The Lakers will finish near the top of the west if they get a player like Calderon running the show.

I dont think the Lakers need him, they have Blake coming back by the playoffs. The Knicks need a boost at the PG and at this point I think anything is an upgrade.

No way Jose. He is grossly overpaid. We already have enough of those guys that are grossly overpaid.

Lakers should just sign Gilbert Arenas!!!

FriedTofuz

he is overpaid but I think his contract is 2 more years. So he will be an expiring after next season. If we can aquire him financially, I would love him on the Lakers. I already like him on the raptors but the lakers could use him more! Everytime someone brings up the knicks I just feel so sory for them, they cant afford calderon? Damn life is tough for knick fans?

Don't be surprised if Calderon is traded for more than what he is worth, because every every gm loves a passing guard, plus the desperateness of contenders late in the season..

im all for trading calderon if we can get a good deal, mid first rounders probably not worth it, but who knows. kinda want to keep barbosa though we will need a good vet of the bench next year

colangelo's too smart....hes going to get equal value...if not...better...look how he got barbosa....drafted bargnani and derozan...somehow got bayless....and got james johnson for nothing....he is one smart man...well ed stafanski is aiding him out too....give it 2 years and beyond...they will be set

Right. I didn't necessarily mean in the same deal. We can add pieces to make it happen, and with the Lakers the TPE is significant.

He's worth a pick in the 20s, nothing more. The PG position is fairly deep nowadays.

A 1st rounder has positive value.
Calderon has neutral value. So unless I'm unloading a bad contract I'm not giving up a 1st for him.

MassoDio
01-31-2012, 06:22 PM
Maybe a low first round pick.

The problem with Calderon is that he is already 30, and has not played in more than 68 games since 07-08.

He is a good floor general, and if he is healthy, could help a team for this shortened season.

But I don't know that I would invest that much into him at this point in his career.

Traded Roy Hibbert and TJ ford for an old broken 17 mil a year Jermain Onea "team has not had a legit C in forever"l,Signed Turkoglu to a 5 yr 50 mil deal,Traded Jack for Bayless "Jack is averaging like 17 and 8 this yr" Signed Linas Klieza to a long deal,Hired Jay Triano as head Coach...I could keep going, let Bosh go for nothing and turned down Michael Beasley a recent #2 pick for a couple very late first rounders....hes a great drafter pretty brutal at signings and trades
