View Full Version : The best possible Rudy Fernandez description

You probably don’t think about Rudy Fernandez that often. He’s not a starter, he was pretty bad in the dunk contest, he plays for a Western Conference team that plays a lot of late games, and he’s not even the league’s Spanish heartthrob now that Ricky Rubio hopped the Atlantic. When the season started, did you even remember he was a Nugget? Don’t feel bad if you forgot, because he was a Maverick for about eight seconds over the summer, so that could have thrown you off. It’s OK to not think of Rudy Fernandez all that often. None of us can keep track of everything.
George Karl, however, thinks about Rudy Fernandez quite a bit, since he’s Rudy’s coach. That’s probably why he came up with the greatest Rudy Fernandez description possible. From Fox Deportes:
Nuggets coach George Karl did admit his doubts in the Portland version of Fernandez.
“I saw some cuteness,” Karl said, “but I didn’t know he kind of understands the game of basketball a little bit like a point guard. He sees the game as a playmaker. I saw his cuteness, but I didn’t know his habits were pretty first-class.”
Choose your favorite adjective there, but “cuteness” and “first-class” are just great ways to describe someone. And when you consider that Rudy Fernandez is one of those players who often follows an unthinkably brilliant play with a way-too-fancy whoops maneuver, it fits even better.
If you ever find yourself in a conversation about Rudy Fernandez — probably with a Nuggets fan or someone who just really loves tapas — just remember this little bit of knowledge from George Karl. Drop “cuteness” and “first class” and you’ll be saying all you need to say

So Perfect.

Yeah he was making a real impact before he got hurt. He's almost back from what I understand. Depth gives the Nuggs the luxury of not rushing players back from injury too quickly, so he and Afflalo are taking their time.

Maybe Karl thought Melo was "cute" as well and that's why he wanted out so bad!
