View Full Version : Report: LeBron may opt out in 2014

Fresno
01-25-2012, 06:11 PM
Now, there is talk that James is less-than-thrilled with certain aspects of the Heat organization. Sources in Miami say that while James still thoroughly enjoys playing alongside fellow stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, he doesn’t particularly care for the heavy-handed and disciplined style of team president Pat Riley.

James can opt out of his contract at the end of the 2013-14 season, and speculation is he will strongly consider it if Riley remains in his current role. And the team James would be eyeballing most in free agency, say those close to the situation, would be the Cavs.

http://www.foxsportsohio.com/01/24/12/Cleveland-return-in-LeBrons-future-/landing_cavaliers.html?blockID=652216&feedID=3561

Interesting.

Miami may allow LeBron to walk or trade him considering their owner likely wont go into the new Luxury Tax to keep the Big 3 together.

Heat should trade him for Howard.. The heat would be unstoppable with this line up : Chalmers, Wade, Battier?, Bosh, Howard.. Lebron and wade are destroying their game when it comes to crunch time becouse they both need the ball.

That's interesting. Did a little digging and saw that the 2014 Free Agency Class would be:

Lebron James
Chris Bosh
Dwayne Wade
Kobe Bryant
Pau Gasol
Andre Igoudala
Paul Pierce
Dirk Nowitzki
Shawn Marion
Birdman
Ben Gordon
Monta Ellis
Kyle Lowry
Danny Granger
Blake Griffin
Andrew Bogut
Emeka Okafor
Trevor Ariza
James Harden
Tyreke Evans
Demar DeRozan

That's a lot of good names there. Most likely some will get an extension before then, but if not, this would be the greatest class ever. Had to throw in Birdman as well. :laugh2:

I think the real question here is where would he go?

The Cavs are out of the question, they simply can't take him back after how he left.

The Knicks no longer have an amnesty clause and have all of their money either currently tied up in Amare Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler or will be tied up in role players trying to win with those guys.

The Nets will either have all of their cap space tied up in the Deron-Dwight duo and supporting pieces for them or they'll be so bad that LeBron won't even consider going.

The Bulls and Clippers just won't have any money. The Bulls are locked into Rose, Deng, Noah and Boozer with extensions likely coming up for Taj Gibson and/or Omer Asik, the Clippers are locked into Blake, CP3 and Deandre Jordan.

Boom. That's all of the teams he talked to in 2010. Essentially, that leaves one big market team--- the Lakers. Coincidentally, this is the year Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol come off the books. However, unless Dwight Howard is a Laker, I don't see the appeal to LeBron. Why go to LA to play for a team that likely won't be very good (isn't that supposedly why you left Cleveland?) at likely the height of lob city's powers. The other factor at play here is that LeBron had his chance to follow a legend (MJ, in Chicago) and chose not to, why are we to believe he'd make a different choice the second time around? Now obviously the landscape of the league can change drastically over two years, but given the alignment of stars, I think we can pretty safely predict what the free agency market is going to look like in two years. Therefore, unless he were going to go to a very flawed situation in LA, he'd likely have to look at small markets. If he's really dedicated to winning, that would probably mean a young team with good management (at the time maybe San Antonio? Sacramento/Anaheim? There aren't any obvious choices). The point here is, if LeBron really does reach free agency in two summers, we have no ****ing clue where he'll go.

JNA17
01-25-2012, 11:28 PM
So what? Wilt was on 2 different teams before he won a Championship.

There's a difference between being traded from one team to another (Wilt was traded) then a player blatantly leaving a team TWICE.

Pat Riley is notorious for his discipline practices.

Its one of the reasons why the Heat players dont want Spoelstra to get fired and for Riley to replace him. He'd work them hard and demand a lot from them with no excuses in every game.

Because of that, Riley had issues with a lot of players he coached.

Why would LeBron go to Oklahoma City? Hes not some old broken down vet chasing after a ring as a bench player and not caring what team he joins.

I think he'll Opt Out in 2014 regardless to evaluate his options for his career.

He could re-sign in Miami or go elsewhere. It depends on the situation.

If he doesn't Opt Out then hes locked in for 2 more years when Wade will be way past his prime at 32+ years old.

So when he said "not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven..." he was talking about the number of teams he'd play for rather than the number of championships he'd win. :)

When he said that, the first thing I picked up on is that he didn't say "not zero" [championships] lol.

Lebron will not leave Miami anytime soon, Can you imagine the backlash of Lebron leaving Cleveland for Miami to win rings then going Back to Cleveland because he couldn't get it done in Miami?

Guess what team will have a TOn of capspace in 2014.
id love to hear what all those kobe *** lickers that bash lebron 24/7 say then,
so what? if he signs and commits to LAL then he becomes our guy. as you always say, fans should get behind players on their team, as this is a team game, no?

well...if one FSOhio writer says Lebron is less than thrilled with Miami...it must be true

Its kinda sad to see how desperate some media people are. To write fictional "there is word on the street" articles about what may or may not happen two and a half seasons from now is nothing short of PATHETIC.

LeBron is a Magic 2.0, I can see him going to Lakers if Kobe retires in 2014.

That'd be good for LAL.

Could see him end up in Brooklyn on the Nets, Manhattan on the Knicks, Los Angeles on the Clippers, and if he has won a championship - possibly back in Cleveland to complete his "dynasty".

When DRose decides to abandon his city, hold a prime time tv special announcing where he is taking his talents, holds a championship celebration rally before the first pratice of training camp, proclaim 7+ titles and then still not win anything, then you can ask the same. So back at ya...:catfight:

Here's a message to Lebron shut the **** up and play some ball for the love of god just play ball.

1. No press conferences were you tell NBA fans they will have to go back to there regular lives and deal with there problems.
2. No Mocking other players or SUPERSTARS (Dirk)
3. No sending stupid joke tweets when people are losing jobs (Lebrons classiest moment during the NBA lockout).
4. No more pre-season celebrations
5. No more promising championships
6. No more everything except do what your supposed to do and play ball.

I don't care where your going or what you will do 5 years from now or if your a nice guy or wtf you want to do just shut the **** up and play ball.

P.S

Fox is such a creditable network how can this not be true

lmao. some of you are truely pathetic. ONE REPORTER speculates that Lebron might not like the rules in Miami...

and somehow you have twisted that in your brain into Lebron is causing drama, and Lebron needs to stop talking, and Lebron is complaining.

Learn how to read people.

Only reason he would opt out is to re-sign for another max contract. No way he's leaving, he's playing with two of his buddies and is definitely going to win at least one title. And after the fiasco with Cleveland, he has to stay in Miami. So can we not discuss this please? At least not this early.

Wouldn't a Heat fan want this closed though? You don't want to see speculation, regardless of its dubious credibility, that concerns your best player leaving.

there is no way he changes teams again imo

plus this article is dumb since there is no story and its a clear case of a reporter trying to make something out of nothing

plus the cavs fans hate him and so does their ownership group
