Chris Paul in a contract year making 18 million likely to command 20 to re-sign him or Kyle Lowry and his 4 year 23 million dollar contract.

Chris Paul: 18.0 ppg, 8.4 APG, 3.0 REB, 2.8 STL, 0.0 BLK, 2.2 TOS, 0.520 FG%, 0.455 3P%

Kyle Lowry: 16.5 ppg, 8.6 APG, 6.6 REB, 2.1 STL, 0.4 BLK, 3.6 TOS, 0.427 FG%, 0.406 3P%

Very similar stats but Paul doesn't out shoot Lowry as badly as you think with their true shooting %s.

Lowry .570% vs. Paul .600%

This is the reason why its not always good to rely on stats all the time when comparing players

Paul 9 times out of 10. The one time would be when he knee is completely shot out.

Paul is just so much more efficient.

How so? Lowry gets to the line more than twice As often and shoots ft's at a better % free throws are by far the most efficient shots in basketball.

So you would take someone who is likely going to take up almost half your salary over someone signed through 4 years for a little over 5 million a year which leaves you ample room to sign or keep big name players around them?

lowry is the base of that team- hes a system point guard. I doubt he would put those stats up with any other coach/team...but i do agree with your argument. Less $, younger, hasnt peaked yet

He is already in a brand new system. He played in Adelmans princeton offense putting up virtually the same numbers as this year since taking over the reigns last season. Going from the princeton offense to a pick and roll heavy offense has not slowed him down one bit.

$20M is just too much for a PG, as good as he is.
