Just wanted to post some numbers of some big name guys that have gotten off to slow starts. Wondering who you guys think is the most disappointing so far... outside of Andray Blatche.

And here we go:

-Dirk- 17.9 ppg, 5.4 rpg (lowest since rookie season), shooting 46% from the field and 19% from 3

-Amare- 17.9 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 42% from the field

-Joe Johnson- 18.5 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 3.6 apg, 41% shooting- his rebounds are the lowest since 2002 with Phoenix and his assists are the lowest since 2004 with Phoenix. Still has a about 108 mill left on his deal

-Pau Gasol- 15.9ppg, 9.5 rpg- The lowest scoring output of his career. His shooting percentages are still very good however.

-Deron Williams- 18ppg, 8.2 apg, on 36% shooting- plays on a really bad team though

-John Wall- 15.2 ppg, 7.2 apg on 38% shooting with 4 turnovers per game; Again though, team is pretty bad

Who do you guys think has underperformed the most this season so far? Still a lot of time to right the ship though! There are a lot of guys struggling right now that I haven't even mentioned... feel free to bring them up

Monte Ellis could be considered. I realize he averages 22.6 points a game, but he is shooitng under 40% and a 23% from 3 point line.

Yeah there's quite a few of them, showing the effects of the lockout obviously, because these guys are too good to put up such mediocre numbers right now. Forgot about Monta, feel bad for the guy because without Steph he's got the scoring burden directly on him

Stat and DWill have struggled the most, considering what they can do at the top of their game... Although they both have their reasons.

Amar'e has played horrible and looks completely lost on offense whenever I watch the Knicks play

I keep telling ppl him and melo can not co-exist....there is a reason he looks lost. But u guess time will tell

I keep telling ppl him and melo can not co-exist....there is a reason he looks lost. But u guess time will tell

They need a PG, Melo can co-exist with anyone as long as there is a legitmate PG handling the ball... Stat is a pnr player, so he needs a pnr PG who could set him up; Melo is an iso guy, so just put him on the block and let him go to work.

It's not rocket-science people; Stat isn't an iso player, so when you have a rookie who's a ballhog at the point, Stats (pun intended) are going to suffer.

My concern and fear is that Dirks age is finally showing up. I personally don't think his slump is all abut the lockout, the loss of old and the integration of new players, limited minutes, tigthen shedule. His field goal shooting is worse, neither is he drawing fouls instead and going to the line.

Seems, like he has no rhythmn currently. For sure. Maybe decrease is setting in. All games so far, he shot miserable. Either missing his first 6-8 shots, then streaking the next 5 or so, or the other way around. Just awful.

Before season started, he said he would have to imrpove his rebounding, now he should rework his whole game. He kinda lost it. It's not all about stats. He still manges to "impress" with 10-18 points, and 5 boards but how often did he lift his game and those of his teammates this season?

Sure he is 33, but how come that other players of his age are more competiive? Also a fourth of the season is already gone and I see zero improvement since day 1 in his game.

Actually shooters like him, who developed a decent inside play lately, with his skills, should be able to produce and execute, or at least help his team otherwise a lot more, because basically he has everything together, to still be a force, no matter of his age and worn down bones. Right now, he plays more like a second or third option and that is a shame.

I was seriously thinking about putting he and Wade in there, but they've also had a bunch of injuries so I kinda didn't know what to do. But if you think Melo go ahead, it can be made into a valid argument

No surprise so far, I think it's Amare too... but I also think he comes around when they finally get Baron back. Amare in pick and roll is pretty nice, but he hasn't been hitting that 15 footer this year for some reason.

dwill is on a bad team so hes waiting it out he doesn't look happy at all. Amare needs a pass first point guard its not really his fault I guess, but to me its gasol he's letting bynum take his spot he doesn't even go into the post anymore, dwill and amare have some kind of excuse I can't even make one up for gasol lol.

I choose Amare and Deron, but I understand why Deron is struggling, and even though I think he should still be playing better than that at least I understand his struggles. Mitch Richmond played through double and triple teams for a decade.

Wall is still young, and hasnt been that efficient to begin with. He isnt struggling much compared to the "mean".

I guess you could say Gasol is struggling, but really he is just playing extremely passively. He isnt struggling much within what he is attempting. He is shooting 53% and has an efficiency of 21+. Not too shabby.

Amare...Ray Allen...Eric Gordon...smh.

Where is 'Melo on this poll?

melo is pretty much the reason why the knicks aren't getting blown out. playing with a sprained wrist, and sprained ankle and still putting up 30+ is very impressive.

i first looked at the list the OP had and i'm like no amar'e? then i saw it and didn't think twice to vote for him, nor was a shocked to see he was winning this poll by such a large margin.

Amare has no reason for his play
Amare's reason is that he doesn't have a PG or anyone at all to set him up. No one on the active roster can run the P&R and that's the staple of Amare's game. Now Amare has been missing the midrange jumper that he usually knocks down but he should really play much better once Baron Davis comes back. He's still been a disappointment, but his struggles are explainable.

Amare can still be more active than he has and much more aggressive

& Tyreke Evans hasnt scored in double digits in the last 3 games

KingsMadness44
01-19-2012, 11:40 PM
if john wall is on the struggling star list then i think Tyreke Evans could be up there too

He has not been playing well at all this season and this is coming from a Kings fan

He's averaging 16.3 points 4.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists FG 40% and 3FG 20%

I was really hoping he would assert himself as the leader on this team and start being more vocal but he just seems to shy away from his potential........Hopefully our new coach can bring it out in him and he can start to pick his game up!!!!

BigBongTheory
01-20-2012, 12:05 AM
Amare isn't rebounding the ball, isn't scoring like he was even last season, and he's been shooting awfully, that being said, he's better than his stats show, maybe it's the lockout, who knows...but i dont think he's losing a step, or lost a step. Atleast i don't think so, just a little bit of a bad slump....

BigBongTheory
01-20-2012, 12:07 AM
As far as Dirk is concerned, i think he's still in last year's championship mode...he got what he wanted, and what he strived to get..i could be wrong, but that could be a part of it..

how is it that a relevant thread like this doesnt get any attention??? I don't post on here much but i read a lot of the post's and threads and people CONSTANTLY complain about the amount of Heat, Lebron, Kobe, Bulls, D-Rose, Knicks, or Celtics threads but yet those are the threads that have the most post's!

I think people on here enjoy bickering with each other and see who can ***** the most! obviously its because the majority of fans on here are from the teams i mentioned before but still this thread could've had an actual discussion and relevant arguments!

Thanks man, that's why I made it but, I dunno I'm not gonna make anymore threads, because it seems that we're more interested in the sock color of LBJ or the type of cloth Kobe's undershirt is made out of.
