Thank you David Stern!

David Stern's fault?

Why can't we blame the players for wanting more money? Or the owners wanting more money?

I guess David Stern will always be the punching bag. But hey, it is Stern's fault the players didn't accept the offers before it was too late. Or Stern's fault that owners are greedy is hell.

I guess Stern should have let up a little on the schedule. There should have been less overall games in the schedule (Like maybe just go with 50 each from the 25th) rather than cramp teams with back-to-back-to-back games and 9 games in 12 nights and whatnot.

Didn't know Z-bo's injury was day to day. I thought both him and Wade are out indefnitely. Good for Grizz fans.

Are the players the ones that made the schedule the way it is, with everything condensed and stuff?

Would it have hurt to push the back the season another month and have the NBA finals at the end of July rather than pushing it back only 1-2 wks to the end of June?

It's a business. Both parties wanted to act like *****es, they gotta make up for the money lost.

Pushing back the season would mess things up for the Olympics, draft and a lot of other things. Not Stern's fault.

The draft would be pushed back as well obviously, but you're right, I didn't take into account the Olympics. Good point.

Circumstantial evidence. Evan Turner, for instance, would not be immune to a quad strain in an 82-game season.

they shoudl ahve etllte to 50 games season.

Anyway ive always thought that league has too many boring regular season games.

For me a right season would have just 58 games ( two against each team , one home one away) in the same span they play 82 now, so no back to backs AT ALL.

Healthier players = better product.
Less worn out players come playoff time = Better product.

I don't like how some scheds are so extreme.

For instance, the Lakers have had a back to back to back, and 4 back to backs while the Clippers have only had 1 back to back so far this year, and don't have a back to back to back. The Bulls, Thunder and other teams have gotten the same harsh treatment already (both have played 12-13 games I believe). But early in the year with barely any training camp, the teams that play more games are gonna get hurt more often.

Yeah, i agree with raps champ, pushing the season further back would just do more in the long run..pushing everything else back as well. both sides are at fault. but the lockout is over now so f- it...

its really ridiculous to blame the lockout for the injuries. this is their LIFE...their jobs/careers, doing it their whole life (elem., middle, high school & college)...they should always be in peak physical shape. That's their moneymaker, that's what pays the bills. A guy suffers a sprained shoulder..."oh the freaking lockout & david stern". It's an easy scapegoat but the issue is the conditioning or aggressiveness of players....not the lockout...

the lockout would more likely have an effect on team chemistry and the learning of offensive/defensive playbooks.

just my opinion...

They're playing more games than is either normal or healthy (obviously). Nearly every former player I heard from the 98/99 lockout who spoke on the subject of this warned how insanely tough this season will be on the players and how many injuries we were about to see.

I believed 'em. And they were right.

There is a 100% correlation between the lockout and the increase in injuries; It's ridiculous to have 66 games in such a short amount of time. Should've been 60 max to get rid of the absurd back to back to backs and a couple road back to backs. Were some players in worse shape? Sure, but from what I've seen the majority actually came back in better shape and more well rested/ready than ever. It's just too many games in too short of a period, though.

^ this...article explains it best.

i agree the schedule can be a little harsh, but its not the reason for the injuries. (chemistry and knowledge of playbooks is affected due to the lockout, that's pretty much it)...

That's a pretty interesting article if the evidence actually does back it up as he says it does. Broken ankles/hands and freak injuries are one thing, but I'm having a very tough time figuring out how there won't be more missed games with nagging injuries that require days off like CP3's quad, Melo's back, and minor ankle sprains that you could normally have an extra day off to kick it up and rest but instead may have to travel all day on it and then get right back on it the next night. If nothing else, I could see the players simply taking days off (exaggerating a strain) to regain some energy so they're not running on fumes.

Very tough to imagine that not being tougher on injuries due to a more compacted schedule with more games and more travel (see: less recup time), but I'm not a doctor.
