View Full Version : Andre Miller Unhappy in Denver

Denver Nuggets head coach George Karl has a problem on his hands, and that problem is Andre Miller. Reports Fox Sports: “Denver Nuggets point guard Andre Miller regularly was a starter in his first 12 NBA seasons. He’s not too happy with that changing. Miller, who becomes a free agent after the season, said before Wednesday’s game against New Jersey that he would ‘probably not’ return to the Nuggets next season if the role is to back up Ty Lawson.

But Miller wouldn’t completely rule that out as a possibility if no better situations were available. ‘At this point in my career, I don’t see myself as a backup,’ Miller said. ‘For 13 years, I wasn’t a backup before. This is a short season (due to the lockout), so I’ll deal with it. But I don’t see myself as a backup at this point in my career. I don’t see that.’

Miller, who was Denver’s starting point from 2002-06, was reacquired on draft night last June.

There has been talk of Miller, 35, serving as a mentor for Lawson, 24, a third-year man. But Miller said Lawson doesn’t need that. ‘Ty, he’s worked hard. He’s had his mentor with Chauncey Billups,’ Miller said of the point guard who was dealt last February from Denver, which led to Lawson becoming the starter. ‘Why would they need me to come in and put in my two cents?’ Miller said he hasn’t spoke of not liking his backup role to Nuggets coach George Karl, and that he doesn’t plan to have such a conversation. Karl said this was the first he’d heard of Miller’s disappointment. ‘I’m glad he’s proud of himself and he wants to play,’ Karl said. ‘But I think this still is the best opportunity for him.’”

I do think he should start but how in the world can you be unhappy playing on a winning team at 37 years of age?

He'd be an upgrade over Fisher. Lakers should go get him.

Start? Why? To hamper Lawson's growth? Lawson is a huge part of Denver's future and starting Miller over him will not help that.

Jameer Nelson for Andre Miller. Please and Thank you

I'm pretty sure that Jameer Nelson would then be unhappy being the backup.

Jameer would be great in a 6th man type role. He could be a huge spark off the bench

Lakers should use the Odom TPE of $8.9 for Andre Miller's expiring salary of $7,807,728.

Move Fish to the bench and make Andre our starting PG. PERFECT!

Same reason Felton wanted out. With Curry and his ankle probs, maybe GS should go after him.

Andre Miller is at the point where unless he is on like the Lakers or something he will be backup for the rest of career i think.. Age is catching up as well as a growing talent of PGs in the NBA

Fisher isn't either right now and don't even get me started on Metta World Sack of ****

Dre could start, Blake could be the backup when he returns from the rib injury, and Fish can back up Kobe

Any trade scenarios? I'd be interesting to see what we could get for him. He's a good Player and an expiring contract. A good prospect young pg plus a first sounds good.

We'll offer you the Lamar Odom Traded Player Exemption straight up. That way, you'll save 7.8 Mil from your salary cap or you can use that TPE to acquire someone else from another team to fill in another position of need.

He may be an expiring, but with the TPE this year, that essentially saves you from having to pay 7.8 mil this year as well.

I love how posters use age as an excuse when the starting point guard of last yr's Champion Mavs was 37/38 years old (JKIDD). Fisher the starting point guard of the 2009 & 2010 Champion Lakers (around 35/36 years old).

Having the deepest bench in the NBA is a great problem for the Nuggets to have!

Miller was unhappy when Denver traded him, and is unhappy again now that he's back on the team. Like someone said earlier, this guy is never happy. His contract should include a ZOLOFT clause or something.
