View Full Version : Does a Bosh-Pau Gasol Swap Make Sense?

goblazers7
01-04-2012, 11:48 PM
I was asking my buddies this question today and we all thought both could benefit from this trade. Makes sense because the emergence of Andrew Bynum and Miami still needing that back to the basket post scorer with size. In Miami Pau could give them that bigger body that could play 4 and 5 with ease. Could even open up Haslem to join the starting line-up. In LA Bosh could be the big time scorer that can hit from all over the court while Bynum can still score from down low by himself without Pau there.

Miami-
Chalmers
Wade
Lebron
Haslem
Gasol

Lakers-
Fisher
Kobe
World Peace
Bosh
Bynum

Tell me what you guys think of this.

Good trade, sadly because it relies on Bynum staying healthy I doubt LA would risk it. Then again, Bosh gives them a younger star PF, who may be underused in Miami anyways.

The Heat might do it because, as you said, it allows Udonis to slide into the starting lineup.

Not for Pau but for Bosh, he could get more shots and take some pressure off Kobe. Bynum is doing his job just fine.

Bosh is every bit as good as Gasol and 4 years younger, he is gaining chemistry with the Heat and especially Lebron and D Wade. They aren't just going to ship him off to LA for a guy really not much different from Bosh and older. This trade is just stupid and will never happen

I wouldn't want Bosh's contract more than anything, he's a great player though, and I'm sure Heat fans don't like Pau's age. I think Heat fans would keep Bosh, just as much as Laker fans would keep Gasol. You essentially trading guys that put up very similar numbers for one another

Not a fan of lakers or heat but watch a lot of laker-heat games, both are good players but I would take Bosh over pau, I believe bosh is not being used as effectively as he was when he was a raptor, In toronto he would get a lot more isolations and dominant his opponents, now in miami he has to be more efficient with limited touches and that really is hard for one to get used, especially when ur used to getting the ball a lot. In tdot, he would take his time and either shoot over his opponent or just drive right by them because of his quickness, I've noticed hes went away from the stat sheet, and went to a more team oriented role, by being more passive and providing more picks and space for the wade and lebron bcz of his shooting abilities. But I still think he can **** on any player if fed enough touches,, hes a beast no one has seen the best of bosh Like Toronto fans have seennn.

Couldnt agree more with that statement. Lakers would be making the Heat just that much better. Its clear that all three cant go off in the same game. If I were the Heat I would much rather Wade and Lebron get theirs and leave Bosh for scraps. With Gasol they are essentially getting a guy with a better jumper then bosh but plays with his back to the basket. He can cleanup in the paint and post up and give them the low post presence the Heat desperately need.

Lakers would get a good young piece that has proven that he cant play under the hoop. One bynum injury and they are soft in the middle. The upside is that they can stay competitive for years to come because Pau is older then Bosh.

Think this trade clearly favors the heat. Especially longterm because if they dont win a championship soon whats the likelyhood of the big 3 resigning to stay together?

It makes zero sense if Pau is "suffering."

Will never happen. Why even bother to discuss. Both are soft IMO.

Personally, I would rather keep Gasol. Gasol is much more skilled but both of them are soft. If we have to trade Gasol, then he has to be for a PG.

makes sense for miami, not for the lakers

miami gets a 20/10 calibur player who can score in the post and outside, less athletic than bosh, but his skill is much more than bosh

makes no sense for lakers, defense gets worse, and not as good a post scorer

but if their 2nd option is going to be bynum, bosh would be good, but bosh cant play the 5 when bynum gets injured, lol

Bosh is already around 20 and 10 as the third option on the best team in basketball.. how do the lakers not get that in return?

mua ha ha , havent watched much lakers this years, havent you?

we used to have a selfish ballhog, now we have a selfish ballhog on the wings and a selfish blackhole on the inside.

no chance at 20 ppg with 10 mercy shots a game.

I had a good laugh:facepalm:

thats the catch, gasol actually IS effective with less touches, he does not need a great amount of them to put similar stats to bosh with MORE touches.
What do you base this on?

I dont fit in this at all, and If being a homer, nationlist, or hater factors in your opinion maybe you or whoever shouldnt post. You should try to be as unbiased as you can. I honestly feel that If Lakers are trying to make Pau no more than a midrange guy and he's not comfortable with it ( though he seems alright with it) and a trade was on the table for Bosh whos better at that type of game than they should look at it. For the Heat, they need a semi dominate low post presence as a third option becuase I dont think small ball wins rings you need a player who can play the half court game. Only problem with Pau for them is he's having trouble running the floor with the Lakers so I dont see him running the floor successfuly with the Heat.

Personaly I think Pau should retire a Laker becuase he aided Kobe in getting back to the promise land and deserves that right.

This trade might make sense but not this year... Miami needs to see what it can do with the current rotation... if they don't win it this year then they need to mix it up... However, i expect them to win it this year unless someone gets hot like the Mavs last year.

The biggest thing a trade like this does for Miami (only if Pau plays the 5) is makes it 5 on 5 again when Miami is on offense...

As a Laker fan I would love to have the "Problems" that Miami has

No freaking. Pat Riley ain't that stupid. Bosh is only moveable if it's for Howard. Nobody else. He's 4/5 years younger than gasoft and the better player. Just because he's playing as a 3rd option doesn't mean he's not the same player he once was. He proved it last night that he is as good as any other power forward in the league. No 3rd option is putting up better numbers than him.

BradfordIsElite

Bosh is very good and has stepped up a lot this year nut nonetheless, the Lakers would still ask for more if Gasol was involved, they have a glaring need at point guard.
