He does have some injuries and they do seem to be affecting his game, however I would not say he is declining at all. In fact, this offseason it was said that his physical shape was better than it has ever been. He reduced his body fat % from 4.5-5% down to 3.5% and increased his core balance so he would not fall as much after getting hit. While his scoring has been down a bit thus far, his defense has gotten even better and he did make big shots when they mattered.

Yeah I was surprised too. Maybe they are lying a bit, but there are multiple articles talking about his intense offseason training. It says he went from 4.8% to 3.5. http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/2011/12/dwyane-wade-trained-with-a-martial-arts-black-belt/

I wouldn't necessarily say that he is declining. He has been battling some injuries, any player That has a injury/injuries can be affected by that injury.

ManRam
01-02-2012, 11:50 PM
No.

And even if he was declining and I was kind of sure about that, I wouldn't come to that absolute conclusion after a week's worth of games...

People need to stop overreacting about everything. It's so early in the season. Basically, we're still playing pre-season games if this is a normal season. It might take some guys a few extra games to get it going...

Not yet, but his prime is almost over. He has played over 24 thousand minutes including playoffs and will be 30 in a couple weeks. Add in nagging injuries and it all takes a toll. Nobody beats father time. Wade will still be able to play at an all-star level even once he starts to decline in the next couple years.

this is coming from a wade fan and I'm not basing this off of just this season, yes he is declining, at least speed wise. I don't see the speed/ explosiveness he had before, don't get me wrong it's not a huge decline but he seems fatigue much often. He has also been having a lot of "off" games leading all the way from last year, what he has to do is work on his jump shot, learn to finish a layup and work on his freakin free throws. What's the point of getting the defender in the air to draw the foul if your going to miss from the line.

That's my non homer opinion and it's a very slight decline no where near having to be worried about the guy

I think Wade should slow down a little for his own health and consistency in basketball. I think he forces his explosiveness but he doesn't need it anymore.

crewfan13

He's not declining. He's playing with injuries, and he's also gotten smarter. He's looked at what happened to a guy like Iverson, who played with reckless abandon and took quite a few shots. Iverson fell off the table. He's not taking the same reckless chances early and in less meaningful games. He'll still have his games, but I think he's already taking the Kobe/Duncan approach. You only have so many good minutes in you, so don't be foolish in meaningless regular season games. Save your 100% for the 4th quarter of close games and the playoffs, go 95% the rest.

Dolfan305
01-03-2012, 12:46 AM
He's had slow starts before, just last season he did, he's fine and I'll bet anything at the end of the season Wade will have "wade" numbers. 25 or so ppg, 5+ assists, 5+ rebounds. People overreacted so much these days....

LOL he's battling injuries. It'll be hard for him to stay 100% healthy in this condensed season, since the isn't much time for rest.

KB-Pau-DH2012

Of course not, but he obviously isn't that type of guy where you want start a franchise with due to these recurring injuries.

There isn't a chance in hell that his bodyfat is anything below 7 based on his bodytype. Lebron's a different story, though.

Didnt know he was injured, but.....

Kobe 24pts 6reb 6ast 1.5 stls
Wade 20pts 3reb 5ast 1.2stl 2blks

pretty damn good for injured players

Gibby
01-03-2012, 01:41 AM
he had two bad games, and both of them have been on 2nd game of back to backs so ease up on him. his numbers will decline but thats because he has lebron and bosh with him now. wade isnt physically strong as lebron (not alot of people are) so he might wear down faster so he needs take less of the workload.

Yeah, its amazing because even injured they put up better numbers than most 2 guards

No. But like Lebrick, everyone knows neither of them are anything without the paint. Keep them out of the paint and you win simple as that. Zone is their kryptonite. God forbid they ever lose their athleticism and have to rely on actually shooting jumpers or 3s ...instead of dunk after dunk or layup after layup (leaking or otherwise)

metsbulls1025
01-03-2012, 06:24 AM
I think he is slowly, but he is on another level above 98 percent of the NBA so you really won't see it for a few more years.

01-03-2012, 09:26 AM
He isn't declining at all. It's just injuries that have been plaguing him. He will be fine. I do think we have seen him past his peak already as a player though.

Lebron, on the other hand, is just starting to peak as a player this year. The guy has been playing amazing thus far. He looks ultimately confident and in his shot and it's going in, his back to basket game has improved, and his defense and finishing at the rim is just stellar.

With Lebron carrying the load, Wade has all the time to take things easy as the season progresses. If only they can figure out the zone now.

01-03-2012, 09:39 AM
lol i knew this was coming with all the low pt totals from him...if you think he's declining you aren't watching the games...he's still flying around looking like the most athletic player on the court each night outside bron...wade needs to start taking some 3's to make defenders hesitate so he can get to the basket even easier

:roll eyes: I don't think so

His steals and blocks per game are up this year. His personal fouls are down. Through 6 games (not really a big sample size, but still) his dRTG is down to 99. Plus, when he hasn't gotten a block or steal he has intimidated others into missing and being careful on passes near him.

MiamiLoyal926
01-03-2012, 11:13 AM
The OP couldn't even offer reasoning for his accusations that wade is declining. All he offered was "Discuss..." Come on! Everyone goes through rocky starts/ slumps. If this were an all season and playoffs thing then you can start a thread like this... Otherwise be logical in your thought process and thread starting.

On the other hand... Continue the down playing of wade. That is when he plays his best. He loves proving doubters wrong.

this thread is ridiculous, but this post is right up there...

just to reiterate... it's only been six games and he's injured so its far to early to say he's declining based on his lower offensive numbers... but it's okay to say his defensive numbers are all up this year, so his defense is better than ever...

hmmm... double standard???

let's wait a few months before we declare him declining... or improving...

Not sure how I didn't see this thread in the first place. I'm closing it since the OP put no argument behind the question.
Put reasoning why you think he's declining. Otherwise anyone can create a thread asking if any player in the league is declining.
