Not trying to get anyone mad, Not sure where this belongs but me and my freind were having an agurment, about the heat. Who would win a series if they played at the same time this years heat or the 2000 Lakers. Me and my freind were discusing Lebrons talent around him throughout his career and Kobes so the question came out.

Oh yeah, and I want to clarify that my answer has nothing to do with Kobe/LeBron...those two in their prime are a wash. It really only has to do with Shaq. LA had great roleplayers too.

Lakers without a doubt, Shaq would be too much to handle. He would easily average around 35-40pts in a series versus the Heat, then u add young Kobe with some good role players and Phil Jackson triangle offense.....It's too much lol

Joel Anthony. LeBron is an amazing center, but is way too small to guard Shaq. Joel would get abused, but not as much as LeBron would. Maybe throw Pittman in there for some hack-a-Shaq.

LeBron doesn't guard Dwight. He doesn't guard any centers...

Why did you discuss Kobe's talent around him when the deciding factor is Shaq? It clearly shows how everyone mostly talks about Shaq during 2000. Which is why I don't get how people call it a "tag team effort" between Shaq and Kobe when Shaq would have dominated regardless of Kobe while the same cannot be said if the vice versa was to occur back then.

You and your friend should have been discussing Lebron and Shaq's talents around them instead of Lebron and Kobe.

They would spend so much time having to double Shaq that it would completely open the floor for the Lakers. Shaq would get his, Kobe could easily roam the floor, and Fox Horry and Fish would have open looks all game. And then there's Phil vs Spo. There isn't a team currently in the NBA that could compete with that.

No no I see what he means back then Kobe was a non factor on defense so no one is stopping LBJ and Wade for 50 plus points and both can hold him to a bad fg%. Its all about how well Shaq gets fouls.

obviously this would be the lakers, but the heat didn't try making their team to even combat a threat like shaq. The only center they have to deal with is dwight whose team isn't a real threat to win a title.

This the heat team is the worst possible matchup because of their frontcourt. I think the 2009 lakers not only have a better chance at beating the 2000 lakers but they would beat the 2011 heat imo. Pretty much every team with a few stars and a solid team would beat the heat. Heck the mavs have only pne star and they beat the heat.

And I was implying championship team. I do believe the heat are the best this year. Also, on a sidenote when was the last time a team won a championship without a dominating big man?

How do you describe dominating? KG/Perk and Ben/Sheed dominated defensively and on the glass for thier teams but weren't offensive powerhouses at the time of their respective championships. I wouldn't say Dirk, Pau, KG or Ben Wallace were dominating big men at the time of their championships.

I don't think it'd be amazing, I think it'd be a sweep. Shaq was unstoppable vs ANY centre of that era, and the heat have a very thin front line as it is. He'd have anyone over 6'9" fouled out by the second quarter.

A sweep you say.... interesting. What happens when LeBron and Wade get to the line 30 times in a given game. Who's going to be soaking up all those fouls? I'd be inclined to believe that the Lakers would be without Shaq for periods on end due to foul trouble. The Heat will have their chances. I see it being a 6 game series victory for the Lakers.

Wow i didnt know there were so many laker homers.First of all i would like to tell you i am neither a fan of miami nor lakers. So lets get back to the point back then
Shaq would pretty much have a field day 35-40ppg 15rpg
Which is more then enough but after him kobe was only 21 years old.He wasnt nearly as good as kobe in prime.Actually he averaged 15ppg on fg35%.
Right now assuming lebron doesnt chokes and plays at the level that he can play and wade giving kobe all sorts of problem dont forget wade right now is much better when kobe was 20-21 years old. Then add bosh to the mix.I really dont think anyone understand how powerful this heat team really is.Dallas may be champions but to me they didnt win championship themselves rather lebron lost because of his mental issues or whatever you wanna call it.Besides you saw back in 2004 probably lakers was better than ever but lost to detroit because of defense.Who is gonna guard bron and bosh
Lebron and bosh easily can average 50ppg among the two because of their competition robert horry and rick fox or should i say lackthereof.
Anyway i think anyone who says heat would get destroyed should take a second look at the rosters.Dont forget kobe was only 21 back then.Heat big three is in their prime whereas lakers only had big two and one of them was just a kid back then.

I'm a huge Heat fan and I think overall we're probably better than the 2000 Lakers. Probably.

We have a more talented roster overall, imho.

However, it's all about matchups, and Shaq would just cause us too many problems and they would be able to play nice wing defense on us.

Lakers in 6. Maybe 7.

Shaq couldn't run and we'd make him run, so we'd definitely win a couple games, maybe even push it 7.
