I love Kobe but Melo and Kobe always have great battles. Knicks sucked tonight but Melo played great.

So in the rematch, we should expect Melo to go off with 63 points, 20 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, a ball grab, 3 on court high 5s to Spike Lee, and one punch to Kobe's Jaw, then backing off like a little girl...cannot wait till February 10th :D

Anything less, and I ruin the NBA, by hacking into their computers and forcing the refs to rig the games for the Bobcats and the Hornets... oh wait.

There's mutual respect between these two, these guys like each other. This goes back to the Olympic team.

In fact, Kobe gives more props to Melo than any other player in the league

But funny nonetheless

Both will make the playoffs and will pretty much be guaranteed in the SF of their respective conference. They have a chance to make the WCF and ECF respectively and even the Finals.

So calm down a bit.

amare needs a good PG. if baron can have a resurgence and play 32 good minutes per game they'll be fine.

So calm down a bit.Agreed. I'm waiting for Baron Davis to come back, it's only then that we'll have a true read on what the Knicks are really capable of. This team is sorely lacking a playmaking PG and B Diddy is a PG who can take on that role for most of the game.

There is no doubt in my mind Melo and Kobe are the best finishers in the entire league.

players i would most want with the ball at the end of a game...

both played well last night..unfortunately the Knicks played abominably on defense and Amar'e was just flat out awful.

He's got Melo pretty bad in the playoff head-to-heads though.

Kobe: 8-2 averaging 34, 6 and 6 while shooting 49%
Melo:2-8 averaging 26, 7 and 3 on 39% shooting

I think in the interview, somone mentioned the 15-10 record, but Kobe said "playoffs are double though" lol

Because kobe has made it happen throughout his career and has the hardware to back it up, people get mad when players run their mouths before getting there. Sports hierarchies aren't complicated, you're crowned when you have the rings to back it up.

those numbers are partly because of the year where the lakers swept them in the first round i think, the wcf matchup was a much better showing by the nuggets and carmelo anthony

I admittedly didn't watch much of the game last night, but I did see when Kobe got the ball and isoed against Melo for I think the first time, and completely broke his ankle on a step back and hit the shot with ease.

Melo is trying to be a better defender, and effort is half the battle...he's just not there yet.

I hate Kobe, but he's my pre-season MVP pick. Low expectations for the Lakers...so if they do well this year, he'll be set up perfect for it.

The voters are dopes and get duped all the time based on who is constantly forced down their throats via the NBA marketing machine...

It isn't a conspiracy... its something the league needs to have happen to fulfill their marketing plans which are always focused on individual players...

Kobe is the past not the future... He could average 35 points and wouldn't win... oh wait... he did that before and stern's darling Nash won.... :speechless:

believe what you will but he has ZERO chance of winning

I agree. They won't seriously contend until they get a defensive minded coach. They have players that can score in any system but their defense is just horrible and an obvious reflection of the coach. Even in his postgame interviews, Mike constantly talks about the offense not defense for why they aren't winning.

The fans in New York really deserve a better defensive effort from their team.

I don't believe any of that. If anyone shoves anything down anyone's throat it's ESPN and the media. Stern couldn't care less about MVPs, and has no way to influence it.
