Did any of us think we could finish this home stand 3-1? I thought at best 2 & 2 before the season. Lacob has done one hell of a job since he has been in office. I know he hasn't gotten the big name player yet. But signing Marc Jackson has made us a great defensive team all of a sudden. And he took a huge risk on Jackson. Because if he didn't get the job done, people would have questioned Lacob's decision making. Also making signings like Brown, McGuire, Smith, & trading for Rush all play into what Jackson wants the team to do, which is defend. This is the best I have felt about the Warriors since the "we believe" years.

Sitting curry against the knick and buying him time to get his body right while still pulling out the win was huge... hopefully curry will be ready to play. If we win this next game cause of more good d and its a low scoring game maybe the team will fully buy in and commit to d the rest of the year.

well, ish smith played will tonight, so we may see curry resting up even vs the sixers. dont get me wrong, we need him, but if ish smith is going to play like he did tonight, we can let curry rest until he's fully ready to go.

we shouldnt sleep on the sixers though..sleep on nobody.

I don't think the players are second guessing Jackson. Now more then ever they know that defense does win games. Two games this season they couldn't throw a beach ball into the ocean & they could have very easily won both. We have beaten two premier teams, and almost beat another. The question is, if we continue to play this type of defense, how far could we go. i say we could be a 6th maybe 7th seed in the West.

1) Thunder
2) Lakers
3) Spurs
4) Clippers
5) Mavericks
6) Grizzlies
7) Warriors
8) Nuggets

9) Rockets
10) Trail-Blazers
11) Hornets
12) Kings
13) Suns
14) Timberwolves
15) Jazz

If he was a game time decision today, he will play against the 76ers. The 76ers are another good team. The play very well on the defensive end. Definitely not a team to sleep on.

If curry is going to play, wed better see if he gets it going early. If not, limit his minutes. We should limit his minutes either way, let him get some playing time in to see if he can handle it, and take it day by day. I'd rather sit him out altogether though just to make sure he's good, especially if Ish is playing well.

Sixers blew out Phoenix by 20, so watch out.

They're pretty high on lin cuz he has basketball iq, and he actually distribute the ball. he is also a non guaranteed contract, and they just need him to take up space until shumpert comes back. Once he gets dropped warriors might pick him back up assuming he clears waivers

fans tend to focus more on their own teams. To other fans, the warriors are still the warriors and they put more stock in the last decade than they do in the last week. Aside from that... they see basically the same guys as last yr (Although, I think the warriors beat phi in oakland last yr)

We actually play the Jazz on Friday. This is the second game of a back to back for us, we aren't even talking about this game yet in the Sixers forum :laugh2:

But I am looking forward to this game more than the Jazz game because of the quality of play. Coach Jackson has you guys really inspired, and I'm liking what I saw from Ish Smith against the Bulls and Knicks. Should be a good game, too bad I'm going to probably miss it being incredibly drunk and all.

I watch both the warriors and sixers closely being from philly. Huge warriors fan and still cheer for the sixers as well. Warriors should take this game. If Jru Holiday can be contained, than the Warriors are good to go. They also got to be careful with Thad Young. David Lee should have a big game on Brand.

106 - 95 Warriors

I kinda hope that other fans don't know what we're doing because we have an advantage with the element of surprise, and considering that our games, when they are shown, it's at 10:30pm back east, I'm guessing that unless someone is a huge Warriors fan that most likely, they aren't tuning into our game or using NBA League pass or what have you just so they can see us.

The element of surprise is nice and as soon as we play every team that we are going to play, they will know after that game, but hopefully we can steal a few wins before they know what hit them.

True, but he's going to play better. He hasn't been shooting the ball well this season. And when he starts to do that, he will become a more effective passer. So I think Ellis starts to play better as the season goes on.

I think he ends up averaging around 7 assist for the season with 22 points. Same with Curry. That would be huge, because it makes Biedrins, Lee, Brown, & Udoh that much better. Once they start get it going on offense, they play better on defense.

I think curry is going to play. LOl they rested him for 7 months over the summer. You cant avoid ankle rolls unless u just retire. The roll against chicago was a real ankle roll... had nothing to do with the ankle being less than 100%. It could have happened to any player in the league.... and it wouldnt have felt good for any of them.

im just saying... time off doesnt gaurentee it will get better, and time off isnt going to prevent something like what happened in the bulls game.

we didnt pass up on trading curry for chris paul to have him sit out every game of the season. and yes- if your goal is to completely avoid a chance of injury... you might as well just sit out every game and every practice.

tons of players throughout the history of this league have taped up less than 100% ankles and played on them. In a shortned season where your team is a question mark to make the playoffs and you are one of the go to guys.... you should man up and go out there.

Warriors point guard Stephen Curry participated in parts of the team’s practice on Friday and remains day-to-day heading into Saturday’s game against the Phladelphia 76ers at Oracle.

But Curry sure sounded like he was going to give it a go.

Curry did non-contact drills early in practice but did not participate in any of the team’s full-court scrimmaging.

“It’s still sore but hopefully another 24 hours and I’ll be able to go (Saturday) and be ready,” Curry said.

Curry sprained his right ankle for the second time this season in the fourth quarter of Monday’s game against the Chicago Bulls when he came down on the foot of Kyle Korver. He missed Wednesday’s game against New York.

The first sprain occurred on Dec. 20, during the team’s second – and last exhibition -- game of the season at Sacramento.

“Obviously, I want to play,” Curry said. “It was tough to sit out last game. And obviously sitting out last game was in preparation for Saturday and having four extra days to get ready. We’ll see what happens tomorrow. I want to play and if I’m ready I’ll play.” Curry tweaked the same ankle several times during the 2010-11 season, then had surgery to strengthen it in May.

It’s likely that if Curry plays he will be without shooting guard Monta Ellis alongside of him. Ellis will be in Mississippi on Saturday, attending a funeral for his grandmother, Mary Cole.

I'm confident about the game tomorrow, I mean sure were missing our ultimate scorer in Monta, but we have Curry returning. we have Rush coming off of a HUGE game. As long as Lee who has been much better this season, especially locking down the opponents post players, I expect him to dominate this game. We also have a **** load of momentum going right now. After beating the Bulls and Knicks, 2 of the top teams in the league. And the 76ers just lost to a struggling team. I see us taking this game in double digits, but only if our defense plays as they have been, and our bench contributes like they have been in the past games.

12-31-2011, 04:41 PM
Wow.....welcome back my good friends frustration and heartache.

The refs were atrocious lastnight. There is zero reason that muscrat Devin Harris can lean into our defenders and draw fouls while Thad, Jrue and EB can all be knocked down to the ground in midair and the whistles go silent. I don't know if its those rich bible bangers down in SLC paying off the referees but that was some shotty treatment on our end. Malik Rose called it out, saying they had the conversation on the ride to the arena. I guess it's a town were it Favors the refs to play according to the fans.

Secondly....free throws guys. You get paid millions to play at a high level and when the game is on the line we only ask that you make use of the damn fundamentals of the game. Basic crap right there.

Poor Turner....I actually think Turner has a more difficult time playing against Favors than Wall at this point. He knows we were interested in him as well and the need for a athletic big is glaring. His production was non existent last night and he was scared to go to the hole.

Keep going to EB. I know he needs a break but he kept the game alive for us in the first quarter so go back to him. Why does he only get a handful of shots the remainder of the game?

To be a good team we need to win games like lastnight. To be a fourth seed we need to crush teams like the Jazz. Hopefully we make up for a sad performance lastnight and really hand it to the Warriors. Curry should be playing tonight so that doesn't help. If Ellis is even considering playing I hope his other grandmother dies.

 Look what Sixers fans said about Ellis

The Warriors wrap up their season-opening four-game homestand against Philadelphia on Saturday night at Oracle. Then it’s on the road for the first time this season against Phoenix, San Antonio and the L.A. Lakers.

A few things to watch for in tonight’s game:

Curry vs. Holiday: As much as Warriors management and the fans like Stephen Curry, the same can be said for Philly Jrue Holiday. At this point, Curry is the better offensive player, but the defensive advantage goes to Holiday.

Ellis likely out: Warriors shooting guard Monta Ellis was in Mississippi on Saturday morning, attending his grandmother’s funeral. He is expected to miss the game. On Wednesday, the Warriors beat the Knicks without Curry. Let’s see if the Warriors can knock off Philly without Ellis.

Bench play: The Warriors’ bench stole the show against the Knicks on Wednesday, with Brandon Rush, Kwame Brown and Dominic McGuire all playing well. Not to mention, substitute Ish Smith stepped in and started for Curry and contributed. But the 76ers have a lot of talent on their bench – Lou Williams, Thaddeus Young, Evan Turner – and the second units could go a long way toward determining the game’s winner.

Center play: The Warriors have been ecstatic about how Andris Biedrins and Kwame Brown have handled the center position. But Philly’s Spencer Hawes has put together three very nice games for the 76ers, and he’s averaging 11.3 points, 12.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.

anyways good game out there tonite. for about 10 to 15 min i was genuinely worried we wouldn't pull it out and your team appears much improved all around.
Curry was a problem we just couldn't cover him but that's to be expected. everyone know when he came out of college he would be a lights out shooter im interested to see what you guys are like with Ellis and are at 100%.

I was at the game today, and brought my 19 month old son to his first game.

The bad part was, I didn't look at the time of the game so we got there at 7:30 thinking it was about to begin.

BOOOOOO!!! For every Warrior game I've been to, they never lost except for today.

But I was only there for the second half, so that doesn't count right?? HAHA.

I know it was just one one guy, but you just don't say stuff like that, do you agree?

It also paints a picture and generalizes what philly fans are perceived as. Since he is on sixers forum, he is indirectly representing sixers fans themselves on psd, and no matter how you look at it, it doesn't look good. I would never talk bad about a team or wishing somebody ill like that. The most ill do is typical bashing like la fakers or sacramento queens..dude just took it too far. its a public forum, keep it decent..
