Warriors point guard Stephen Curry got some good news from Wednesday’s MRI on his sprained right ankle.

Tests revealed Curry didn’t sustain any ligament damage and the repairs made in his offseason surgery are still in tact. Curry will officially be listed as day-to-day, but it’s going to take some quick healing for him to be able to play on Sunday.

CURRY: “Hoping for the Christmas Miracle.”

Curry rolled his ankle while backpedaling to the defensive end with 46.4 seconds left in the second quarter. He fell to the hardwood and writhed in pain after trying to walk it off.

Curry had surgery on the same ankle back in May. Dr. Bob Anderson, a foot and ankle specialist for OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, repaired two ligament tears. Curry sprained his right ankle three times last season and missed a total of eight games. He spent most of the offseason rehabbing the injury before being cleared for full contact on Sept. 14.

Great news. I think we should play it safe and let him rest when we play the Clippers. We don't need him to have a nagging injury with the schedule the way it is. Steinmetz said if Curry doesn't play he thinks Ish Smith will start.

An MRI on Stephen Curry’s right ankle revealed that the Warriors’ point guard didn’t sustain any ligament damage when he rolled the ankle on Tuesday night.

Curry will be listed as day-to-day, meaning it is unknown whether he’ll play in the Warriors’ season opener on Christmas night against the L.A Clippers at Oracle Arena.

Curry sprained the ankle with less than a minute to play in the first half of the Warriors’ exhibition game against the Kings on Tuesday. After injuring the ankle, Curry remained on the court for a couple of minutes and then was helped to the locker room by teammates.

Curry appeared to be in considerable pain and he was not able to put weight on the ankle. He didn’t return to the game and left Power Balance Pavilion on crutches.

Curry did not have X-rays in Sacramento, and the Warriors called his injury a right ankle sprain.

Curry sprained his right ankle several times last season, which forced him to miss eight games. After the season, Curry had surgery to strengthen the ankle.

Glad to hear its not worse. The fact that it took so long lead me to believe it was going to be bad news.

5'8 point guard listed at 5'10? How confident are you that he can play good defense?

I think it would be in the best interest for the team to trade Curry anyways. I don't believe that he will stay here once his contract runs up. I think we should look into trading him for a dominant big man. I know there is only one dominant big man right now, but who knows what the situation will be when his contract runs up.

As a restricted free agent he isn't going to have much of a choice..

More so than not being able to put weight on it, I think he didn't want to put weight on it. I think alot of it was mental, a 'oh no, here we go again' situation. I think it scared him more than anything.

I hope your right. I shattered my ankle over a year ago and every time I halfway roll it running it scares the **** out of me. I just know my ankle is week and kind of gives out sometimes rolling over easily now. Maybe Curry's is the same?

Now here will come the **** wads saying I can't compare myself to a professional athlete and that I'm not a doctor so I'm an idiot for thinking our injuries are similar. Quit being so predictable. Grow up.

I am scared that this is going to keep happening though and if it does 2-3 more times this year alone we should trade him while the value is high. Otherwise we have a lights out shooter that can't move on the court.

Considering he was to be the centerpiece of a CP3 trade, I'd say quite a bit. Either an established star or a young player(s) and multiple picks.

Like I said the other day, I think Curry was scared and that the injury wasn't as bad as he, or anyone else, orignally thought. I didn't look that bad on the replay anyways. That being said, I only want him to play if he's ready. With the compacted schedule, we can't have him missing a dozen games due to nagging injuries.

Yeah, but Curry is going to want to play. I think he will get limited minutes anyways. I expect Jenkins to play allot.

lol, please

Curry is a great trade piece we coulda got melo for him cp3 with him shoot I'll bet we could do a package deal to get D12 with him. Teams will trade their stars for curry and if this ankle thing keeps going I'm all for it.
On the other hand if he stays healthy and it's not a problem keep him and Ellis and continue to grow

The problem with each of those deals is there was no guarantee for an extension. I think the risk to keep Curry is greater than trading for a star that isn't signed to a multi-year deal.

The thing about Curry is, he's injured it multiple times. Each time that happens, it takes longer to recover from it. So Curry may be hurting for a while. However, he's likely going to play on opening night..i just hope he doesnt mess it up hella bad

OAKLAND – Warriors point guard Stephen Curry is listed as day-to-day after spraining his right ankle during Tuesday’s exhibition game against the Sacramento Kings.

That means his status is up in the air for Sunday night’s regular-season opener against the L.A. Clippers at Oracle Arena. But Curry sounded optimistic about being in the starting lineup, particularly with three days to rest and rehab the ankle.

If Curry can’t go or his minutes are limited by the injury, Warriors coach Mark Jackson will turn to second-year point guard Ish Smith or rookie combo guard Charles Jenkins to pick up the slack.

come on... he tweaked it back peddling on defense. people act like it was the shaun livingston or kalenna azabuikee injuries... a pro player should be able to tape that up and go out in 5 minutes...my lord 7 months to rest that thing and he still hurts it... so much for rest affecting injuries

Give Curry some credit. last season, he tweaked it 3 times in a span of what, a month? and he still only missed 8 games. Dude is a soldier. I'd be cautious too if that happened to me and I had surgery and I re-injured it.

Curry is by no means soft. I mean he's still going to play on opening night. But he's someone we can't afford to have injured. You swear he's like Cal Ripken Jr or Kobe Bryant...he's not at that level yet.

Curry said he will decide tomorrow whether he will play Sunday

He said it feels a lot better, but he won't play unless he's 100%

I would expect if he doesn't practice Sat, he won't play. Sounds like he wants to nip this in the bud now
