Weak....
Christmas Day the Knicks will take the floor at the renovated Madison Square Garden — and fans are going to pay a premium to see them thanks to finally having a decent team on the court and the upgraded facilities.

But this is ridiculous. From the New York Post (via IamaGM.com).

(Quadriplegic former Brooklyn high school basketball player) Alanzo George learned from a pal who had been treating him to floor tickets that courtside spots set aside for people in wheelchairs at Madison Square Garden soared from around $300 last year to $2,850 this year….

Garden spokesman Barry Watkins said the $300 spots were eliminated as part of the arena’s ongoing $850 million renovation. He said the new floor spots for the disabled are closer to the action than the old ones.

The average ticket price at Knicks games jumped 50 percent, but that increased price comes with the chance to catch an errant pass from point guard Toney Douglas.

Hey, it’s supply and demand and we are cutthroat capitalist society. I get that. But this does seem pretty harsh.

Sad but it's a business.

That's nuts. I had season tickets last year and I didn't even bother purchasing this season. There too crazy. I'll buy individual games here and there but the tickets have become unfair. I went to survivor series and the arena looks awesome but not at the price we'd be paying for every game lol

Sad that these type of seats get this much of a price hike but shouldn't be much of a surprise sadly.

It's pretty harsh with those ticket prices which is where the Nets can capitalize if they offer less money but the Lakers and Knicks will always be the most expensive teams in the league. With the 1/3 renovations, It's going to get alot worse...I hope somehow they can lower ticket prices but I doubt it.

LOL at the Toney Douglas line. Awesome.

I mean, they did sign Lebaron Davis. Instant game changer, Knicks are bound to win the championship. The price increase is justified.

I hope this stops the middle and lower classes from trying to get in and only the top class getting in because it's going to help them save money rather than spending it on lower-end priorities.

I'm not even sure how to respond to this.

Is this a serious question?

If it is someone that will respectfully answer the question whether me or someone else but I really not sure it is and that you don't know the answer to this question.

Are you serious? You do realize NY is the most expensive sports city right? LAC just skyrocketed their tickets. It's just the big markets. When Toronto builds a contender, watch their ticket prices skyrocket.

I'm sure he will get a discount or even free tickets once this story makes waves through the organization. That's usually how it works.

I'm not sure what rivalry is there either?

They will still sell the seats out... court side for Lakers games is $2500 a game and goes up $500 each playoff round...

Yes it would be nice to let the disabled have a good seat for a relatively cheap price but the Knicks run a business and if they think that they can sell the tickets, they have every right to put them at whatever price they see fit.

You ever hear of elevators?

You think the only place someone in a wheelchair can sit is court side?

The floor in MSG is about 6 stories up to begin with... There are disabled seats all over the arena.

As purely a guess for Raps im a say 500-600 hundred range..I know nose bleeds are like 50-80 middle section is 150-200 dollar range but ACC in Toronto gets packed we actually do have a lot of fans up here lol. Toronto's court sides mostly go to companys they just had them out to clients and stuff, really is crappy

^^These two are correct. There are elevators in every stadium and arena and there are handicap seats/spots on every level and nearly every section. Prices went up, sucks. It also says that the old handicap seats were eliminated and there are new ones that are closer, so the seats didn't go up 100+% because they didn't exist before. This is a bogus news story painting half the picture to stir **** up.

The issue is not a price increase the issue is a disabled seating price increase, especially one this large.

The NBA between Stern and this look so much worse to me now then they did at any point during the lockout. The league image is somehow getting worse after coming back from a lockout.

yeah... cuz the only disabled seating is on the floor

The regular floor seats right next to them cost the same amount... should they be less?
