According to two high-ranking Western Conference officials and a high-ranking Eastern Conference official, Nick Young is seeking an annual salary in the range of $9 million per season and few teams have the funds or the willingness to pay him right now.

I do hear his price tag is pretty high, one Western Conference official said.

Young averaged a career-high and team-leading 17.4 points per game last season for the Wizards, the highest among free agent shooting guards.

I don't see him getting that just yet. He needs to continue to prove he's worth that.

Not worth near that. He's a down right chucker.

How is his D?

If Jamal Crawford and Rip Hamilton got $5m per, I dont see how this guy gets more than that.

That's too much, 6m looks fine.

I see some team giving him 3 years 21 mil. Basically, 7 mil per is the most i see him getting.

If Rodney Stuckey got that, he probably can too.

he's gona have to put in one more consistent year before he gets that kind of money, imo. especially for a wing.

I'd say that's too much, but I've seen pretty bad deals this offseason.

Non existent. Watched a lot of him and Wall last season, and the kid can score, but that is absolutely it. Assuming in a fantasy scenario that he did try to create for a teammate (he wouldn't), he just is not skilled enough to buckle the defense. Doesn't rebound, doesn't pass, doesn't play D. He shoots; Easily the most one dimensional scorer in the league in my opinion. Still fun to watch and does have a place off the bench for a team like Chicago, though.

As for 9 million a year? Not worth it. 18 for 3 years, okay.

All he has to do is show a highlight mix of him against the HEAT and any team will fork over the $9mil/yr.

I was just telling clips' fans how he would be a good replacement for Eric Gordon's scoring, especially since he is Souther Cal alum. His athleticism and instant offense could really work well with that team. His asking price is a bit high though.

He lit up the Lakers also by averaging well over 20+. If he can avg 20+ as a Laker, The Lakers should use LO TPE and do a sign and trade for him.

Stuckey got overpaid, so it's natural that Young expects to as well but hopefully no team acquiesces to his demands.

His price tag is not even close to being high. There arent many young slashing guards like nice young. Think about it this way, some rotten people got way overpaid and this guy is asking for about 1 million more than he should get, and people saying hes asking for too much? How much did the knicks throw for chandler? how much did the grizzlies have to match for gasol? yeah thats overpaid. Nick young is very good shooter, and scorer, he deserves the money hes asking for.

Lakers might, they are depressed to make a "big" move. Nick young is a lot bigger than Troy murphy..

I'm really not sure he's worth half of that... no hate whatsoever...

It's just the kid is one dimensional. If his shot is off, he's utterly useless. Can't defend, rebound, pass, or lead your team anywhere but the lottery.

9 mil for a poor man's kobe? like him for 3 years 25mil - He could be 6th man material or a starter who scores 20ppg - A bargain at 3 years/25mil. He should take less and go study under Kobe in LA.

He's exactly the type of player you don't want to give $9 million. Here comes another Al Harrington/Travis Outlaw contract that doesn't make sense. Hopefully the GMs have smartened up some from the lockout.

A 37yr old Derek Fisher is more than likely a better defender, rebounder, and passer than Nick Young.

That's sad.

Nick young isnt a PG. Derek fisher is degressing at this point in time of his age. He isnt going to average a ton of assists. He gets alot less minutes than the past.

3m max.. just a chucker to me.
If you were in the nba and lead your team in scoring and you only got 3milion, how would you feel? You would be demanding more money.

How much would you guys pay harden? i think harden is a bigger chucker than young.

Big fan of Nick Young but I doubt he gets 9M, too much, maybe 6-7
There really arent many shooting guards in the nba like him. he can be a leading scorer on a team

better hurry up with that 9mil. season start next Sun..
Looks like he'll be a free agent or sign with less money

Poor mans kobe? Are you blind, hes nothing like kobe...He doesnt even have the athletcism to compare to kobe, nor the rebounding/ playmaking abilities. He may be a great shooter, but that doesnt make him anywhere in comparism to kobe.

Yeah theres also the bulls, they really want a sg.
