At his introductory news conference on the floor of the Clippers practice facility, Paul cited the Clippers' history as a reason why he wanted to be traded to a franchise that has only advanced to the playoffs four times in the past 35 years.

"I'm excited to be here in L.A. with this unbelievable franchise with so much history behind it," Paul said. "Every one knows Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan signed his deal and my big brother, Chauncey Billups, who I'm excited to be playing alongside of. This is going to be an unbelievable experience."

In terms of history, Paul only went back to two players who were drafted within the past three years and a player the Clippers claimed off waivers three days ago, but that's just fine. When it comes to making history, the Clippers will be a clean canvas for Paul.

well a owner that was unwilling to pay for one of his coaches's surgery is pretty unbelievable. CP3 wasn't lying "unbelievable" can be really good or REALLY, REALLY, REALLY BAD.

Come on guys, we all know that Clippers do have a lot of history in LA. Every single year, when we want to watch a basketball game in Staples for free or cheap, which team do we think of? The Clippers. When we think of the most dullest court in the NBA, who do we think of? The Clippers. When we look at our caller ideas, who do we see calling? The Clippers representatives.

It's good to see that the Purple and Gold Waaaaaaaahhhmmbulance has made a guest appearance.

But really, there is no Clippers history in LA other than sucking. This is coming from a guy who rather watch Clippers, pre-Blake, than the Lakers. Hell, they even lost Darrell! If you go to Clippers game, you know who he is. He is very visible and you can hear him anywhere in the building.

Okay granted this makes Blake Griffin much much better and De. Jordon as well but that doesnt mean adding Paul will make them a contender. Serious people are going as far as saying they are the better team than the Lakers they are easily make the Western top 4, really last check there is San Antonio, Dallas, Lakers, Memphis, Okc, Portanland, the Clippers will have a chance to make the playoffs but absolutely nothing is guaranteed. I certainly wouldnt be surprised when Paul becomes a free agent he bolts to another team.

No, I know. They haven't won a single division title, let alone a conference championship or an NBA title. EVER. Hell, the've had six total winning seasons in their more than 40yrs of history--only two which occurred in LA. It's been a surreal display of ineptitude. No doubt about it.

But still, let the Clippers and their fans enjoy this moment. This is huge for their franchise and they're right to be excited. And yes, Chris Paul's comments were laced with hyperbole, but that's just the sort of thing you'd expect to hear from a guy who's excited about his new job and all the possibility it entails.

uhmm chris paul, blake griffin, deandre jordan, eric bledsoe, chauncey billups, caron butler is a pretty stacked core of a team. Don't forget how chris paul took a hornets team with literally nobody on it to the playoffs last season. The clippers are gonna be considerably better...

I think CP3 sees potential in becoming part of a history in the making. CP3, Griffin, DeAndre, Butler and a veteran champion like Billups is the starting point of a great team that can build for the future. Being the first succesful star player of a franchise is quite special for most people. Perhaps he just doesn't sound like he considers the Clippers as the bad team of LA

On NBAtv they compared the Lakers and Clips since both were in LA at the same period...

Lakers have 1400+ wins
Clippers 750 range

Lakers 8 Titles
Clippers 0

Nonetheless Clips have a nice young team in place

Dont forget you did loose Eric Gordon, yes i do agree they will be much much better but that dosnt still change my mind they will be a dominant presence in the Western Conference like the La Lakers,Maverics, Okc etc. Maybe in 3 four yearss

you have this all in the wrong order.

Given the context, I disagree.

"Let alone" emphasizes the improbability of a contrasting example and is typically synonymous with "not to mention," "much less," etc.

In the NBA, given that only eight teams can win their respective divisions while sixteen make the playoffs, it is entirely possible for a team to win the championship without having won its division. Yet, when evaluating a franchise's history, one would expect the franchise in question to have accumulated more division titles than championships, since the latter are more difficult to achieve than the former.

As such, it is grammatically appropriate to describe winning conference and league championships as more improbable than winning division titles by saying, "They haven't won a single division title, let alone [or much less] a conference championship or an NBA title."

Is that a joke? The Clippers gave away everything and they won't offer him an extension??? CP3 will only play for 2 seasons then he's gone. He hates Stern so much, he's willing to play for the Clippers. What a scary thought.

My thoughts exactly. What history do that lot have? I don't know who is advising him but this was a stupid comment.

Why didn't he just say he is a joining an good upcoming team with great potential. This PR just makes him look false.

Slowly losing respect for both him and Howard and it's probably their agents fault for what they have been saying in the press

Thats basically all I know about Clippers history: Theres some kind of curse where players with potential get seriously hurt, their owner is some scumbag and how the owner treats the players like he owns them (brings in his girlfriends and watches the players shower while marveling at "his specimens").

For the record I think the last part might be exaggerated as only 1 former player has every said this.
