Call me a homer, but with the way the schedule is set, I like Bulls chances of repeating with the #1 seed given their depth vs Miami's. On the other hand, Thibs seems to prefer riding our players out so who knows.

8. Orlando (Dwight stays, and that team moral is going to be really bad.)

If Dwight is traded then swap Orlando and New Jersey.

People tend to forget that the Magic won 52 games last season with a roster that changed mid-season... Factor in having more experience and a shortened season (worse for an older team like Boston or a team without depth like the Knicks) and I can't see them falling below third with Dwight.

I think they finish fourth if they have Howard. With that said, I think he ends up getting traded to the Nets afterall. Thus is why I do not have the Magic in the playoffs.

If the Sixers can get above average production from the 5 they will make plenty of noise. I think the Hawks have been overrated for years and they miss out this year. Celtics should contend more year, you know they didnt mind the lockout with all that rest they got. Wont be surprised if Boston wins the East.

If D12 stays ...
Bulls, Heat, Celts, Knicks, Magic, Pacers, Hawks, Sixers
If D12 goes to Nets
Bulls, Heat, Celts, Knicks, Pacers, Hawks, Sixers, Nets

I think West will make a big difference for Indy & I think overall they will build on their gutty performance vs the Bulls. The Hawks are past their due date & I see them starting to slide down now. Noah is ripe for another big step & when he does the Heat will look further behind the Bulls as far as regular season play goes. The playoffs of course are a different matter. The Bulls need to be near 100% in health to get to the Finals.

for everyone who has boston penciled in the top 3, check out how they did in the 2nd game of bacj 2 backs last season & better yet, how the faired in the 2nd half of last season. Age & the schedule will impact the Cs the most of all teams imho.

But really, I think the East is back. Obviously teams like Miami, Chicago, New York, and Boston are all going to be good. But New Jersey could very well get Howard, Indiana has gotten far better in the offseason. And Philadelphia can only go upward. Atlanta is still a little better than .500 IMO.

If Orlando is traded to Nets

1.Miami 60-6

4.Indiana
5.Boston (Their final year in the playoffs before rebuilding)
6.Orlando (If Howard stays, if not swap them with the Nets)
7.Atlanta
8.Philadelphia (Could be a dark horse IMO because they play great D and have some young talent)

9.Milwaukee (If Brandon Jennings becomes more efficient and Bogut is healthy they could make the playoffs)
10.New Jersey
11.Detroit (Brandon Knight wins ROY)
12.Washington (John Wall averages close to 20 ppg and 10 apg)
13.Toronto
14.Cleveland
15.Charlotte (May not win over 10 games IMO, one of the worst teams on paper I've seen in years)

Geez thank you. I was just thinking that. Extrapolated to a whole season, 60 wins translates to 74 games won in an 82 game season.

I know the Heat are good, but I say 50 wins is much more logical.

RLundi

5.Orlando 41-25
6.Indiana 40-26
7.Philadelphia 39-27
8.Atlanta 35-31

I'm sorry, but these projections are extremely unlikely. Extrapolation for an 82 game season looks like this based on your current standings:

1.Miami 74-8
2.Chicago 70-12
3.New York 60-22
4.Boston 56-26
5.Orlando 51-31
6.Indiana 50-32
7.Philadelphia 49-33
8.Atlanta 43-39

Not only is this nearly mathematically impossible, but it's probably highly inaccurate. Take 5 or 6 wins off the top 5 teams and it'll be probably be more indicative of what we can expect.
