View Full Version : OPINION: Hornets getting the #1 pick next year

I'm calling it.

Magic are also a candidate.

I just feel bad for teams that are really more deserving of a #1 pick but won't get it because the Hornets need to be sold or the Magic will be devastated.

It's always some poorly ran franchise (Cavs, Wizards, Magic, etc) that costs the middle-of-the-pack teams the chance of getting that one player that would get them to that next level. Instead, that player will rot in a bad franchise until he decides to leave. Rinse and repeat.

They WISH they got the #1 pick. instead they'll have no cap space a 12-15 ranked team, no playoffs and no Andre Drummond/Anthony Davis to look forward to

Not if they get Scola, Odom, and Martin. That's a fringe playoff team. Although, I could see those guys being dealt in the separate deals this season.

just noticed how much it sucked that they traded collison, who did they even get back for him lol dont remember some of these teams are so stupid everyone knew paul was leaving.

The Heat are more deserving, give it to them, not the team that can't attract free agents and their only hope is winning the lottery

Orlando, 3 picks in first round if we trade Dwight to Nets.

No they aren't.

With the talent they get, they'll just miss the playoffs.

So they'll have no talent for the future and aging, expensive players since the Hornets management are dipshits.

Not a chance if they can get a pg they can actually be a playoff team.

raptors and bobcats are gonna fight to the death for this #1 pick and then david stern will screw toronto in the lottery

I agree if they miss the playoffs Orlando will get the third pick AND cavs will get the second to keep Dan Gilbert letters to himself

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Hornets get the #1 pick for the shear fact of selling the damn team.

The Wolves have never gotten the #1 pick. Now that is goes to the Clippers no matter what, I guarantee it will turn out to be the #1 pick, regardless of the Wolves record.

The Magic and Hornets aren't going to get scrubs back for those two guys. I'd bet my life that neither get the #1 pick...

My problem with guys like you is that you make these predictions and when they don't come true you are nowhere to be found..but if they do, we'll all know about it.

Sam Mitchell was spot on in this issue.
if the trade wen through, NO will be stucked in mediocrity with aging players and depriving they're chances of getting multiple young talents in the STACKED 2012 draft.

yes they will be a better team with those players coming (scola, martin, odom, etc) but upto where can they get? they're highest ceiling will be 2nd round of the playoffs if lucky IMO! whats up with that? and they need to pay more to be stuck in mediocrity? crazy

I was going to say that. NO will have a pretty decent team.

Magic need it more, the Hornets will be sold, but Orlando just opened up a new arena and would lose their main attraction to the city... They would need it more than the Hornets.

wouldn't that be sweet, but won't happen. DTS don't have a crippled grandson or dead spouse. now if griffin ever pulls lebron on us and DTS writes a letter to fans how we are gonna win a trophy before blake does? then we'll get the top pick for sure.

Thank you. Which is why I support Stern stopping the deal. He actually wants the Hornets to get something out of the deal. Either star talent or young talent.

Um try the Nuggets..

I don't think they even have enough players to be a team.

That's what I think... I can see them finishing in 9th in the West, but that pick bubbles up to 1st overall... then Stern would give the T'wolves Gm a cold stare and say "You Mad?"

Sorry nope, the Raptors are getting the first pick. We will probably be the 2nd or 3rd worst team, and you know the 2nd or 3rd worst team get the 1st pick usually, not the worst team.

With my wholehearted belief that the NBA fixes its draft lottery every year both the Hornets and Magic will end up 1-2 in the draft, regardless of whether other teams have a worse off record. And both the Raptors and Bobcats will put up a fight to have the worst record in the league this year. It will be interesting to see where the Clippers land considering they have the TWolves pick but it will not be first, that I can guarantee!

If they finish 9th in the west, Adelman should be the unanimous coach of the year. In reality, they'll probably be around 20 wins.

But here's what I don't get. You act as if the Hornets had a small chance who just happen to win.

They had the 4th best chance.

Wade>You:  Called it right off the bat. Give him Mod status lol :D

I thought it was too, but I wasn't completely sure lol

This league is so f*cking rigged  The one team that just lost their superstar and struggled and finally found a new Owner.

Next year will be Orlando, which I'm pretty sure you suggested too :pity:

was fishy that they won but they were 4th to get it. not like the year the bulls won with 1 or 2 %. it just fuels the conspiracy theories that are around.

bill simmons tweet was pretty funny. he called the nba the wwe. i thought that was pretty good.

also, the first thing i was thinking when the hornets won was bounties lol.
