Let's see...

1. Sign Nene for 4 years at 20 million a year
2. Trade for a center that's actually worth that money.

No-brainer....

Clearly this is a must move if they can't get dwight. There's no chance Deron will play anywhere else anyway. LA, NY, and Mia have their pieces. Chicago won't need him either.

So if they get Nene I don't see why he'd leave at that point.
Expensive, hell yea, but it's nothing compared to the price they'll pay should Deron walk.

60 - 65 millions/4 years is still too much. He average 14.5pt, 7.6 rebounds, and one block a game last season.

New Jersey is following New York's path - over paying then be burdened by the baggage it created.

I did forget about Dallas. They would be more appeasing in the short term. They would probably have equal chance to get Deron as the Nets would.
Both owners will spend. Depends on which owner spends smart.

king what about us we will have ALOT of money next summer.?
If Dwight goes to LA then I think it's fair game for him to go to Phoenix. Our advantage would be having the room for 2 max players next summer.
Get Deron this summer, he can build a chemistry with the roleplayers we have now.
Then make a play for a big name like Love the year after. That's a very good team.

NO fcuken way!! Nene will be tagged as the most overpaid and overrated (by nets) player of all time hands down if that's true. He's a role player. Max deal #'s under new CBA: 25% is $12.9 M (i.e. Gasol) 30% is $15.5 M (ie. Nene) 35% is $18.1 M (player with 10+ yr service)https://twitter.com/#!/chadfordinsider/status/145247518349987840

$69,330,289.06 looks like the max that Nene can get under the CBA if my math is correct. Max raises are 7.5% right?

It could work in a 3 way deal, Denver signs him and trades him to Magic, Dwight to Nets, something to Nuggs. But IDK why Magic would want Nene.

Nene is just a smokescreen, they're trying to force Magic to make the trade sooner, rather than later... Basically saying, "if you wait too long, we'll sign Nene and then the Lakers can force you into a bad deal".

Doubt they actually sign Nene for 20+M/yr if they don't get Dwight, but I can't be sure, Rashard Lewis got 20+M/yr so anything is possible.

The_Jamal
12-10-2011, 04:31 PM
WHy was there a lockout?

A lockout isn't going to change owners being ******** and blowing their wad on role players like Nene. Chandler at least makes sense to where he went as the Knicks needed his defensive presence really badly and he's not being asked to be a franchise cornerstone. With Deron not locked-up, Nene would become NJ's franchise player.... which is not a good route to go.

phlp_bj
12-10-2011, 05:03 PM
Nene, the top center left in free agency, is reportedly pushing for a max contract and could get the most money by re-signing with the Nuggets. But after the Nets missed out on free agent Tyson Chandler, who agreed to a deal with the Knicks, they upped the offer for Nene to four years, $70 million, according to a source.

It’s unclear what signing Nene would mean in terms of the Nets trading for Howard, but the proposal highlighted by Brook Lopez and cap space would have to be reworked. As of Friday evening, the only new Nets in training camp were the two rookies and the free agents picked up from the D-League affiliate.

Not $80 mill but still a lot. If this goes through it MUST mean the Nets were informed they have no shot at Dwight.
