In the Summer of 1996, the Los Angeles Lakers went against the rule that you never trade BIG for small.

They decided to trade starting center Vlade Divac to the Charlotte HORNETS for the draft rights to young 17 yr old Kobe Bryant.

This opened up salary space, and the Lakers signed ORLANDO MAGIC free agent center Shaquille O'Neal.

The Lakers took the risk of getting a "small superstar" (Kobe) before getting their "big superstar" (Shaq)

In 2011, the Lakers trade away 14 ft of big away (Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom) for 6ft small in Chris Paul, with the HORNETS franchise again involved (New Orleans).

They now have the salary space to absorb whatever junk the ORLANDO MAGIC throw at the Lakers and get their Big man in Dwight Howard.

Again, the Lakers get the "small superstar" (Paul) first, before getting the "big superstar" (Dwight).

HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF!?!?!?
