View Full Version : Who's the most all around dependable role player?

Who's the player most likely to play the most games and give the most effort? There are the obvious star choices like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James who seem to avoid long stretches of injury, but let's focus on dependable role players.
For me, it has to be Andre Miller. He's played 972 out of a possible 984 games in his career a 98.8 attendance rate. Over 12 seasons, he's never averaged fewer than 11 points or 5.8 assists per game, always capable of running an offense. An oft-overlooked stat for a point guard, he's also always grabbed at least three rebounds per game. He's a tough, 200-pound point guard who works his way around the paint.
Why don't the Lakers or heat snatch him up? He deserves the chance and can effectively run either one of their offenses.

- Other Candidates: Shane Battier, Kurt Thomas, etc.

I've always loved Andre, glad to have him back! Jason Kidd is a role player now and does it damn well too.

Bobby Jackson was great with Sacremento too.

Currently, I really like Jared Dudley for the Suns. Homer sure, but he just brings in. He'll come off the bench, hit those 3's, and play good defense.

Around the league, Terry, Miller, and Deng certainly come to mind.

lol dare I say Monta Ellis?

Basically everybody mentiones is a starter or 6th man borderline all star player. The best true role player in the NBA is Jared Dudley. Can shoot the 3, plays hard perimeter defense, can pass the ball, can rebound, is always at the right spot, and can score if asked to.

Udonis Haslem, Lamar Odom.

afflalo. there is a reason why teams are depresssed they cant sign him and would be bowing down to him if he was unrestricted. he would be more popular than nene.
