He would be so much better as the starting 3 instead of Artest..

Battier or Prince is who I'm hoping will be starting at 3 for the Lakers next season...

He's not the same Battier of old but he is a better fit than Metta at this point in their careers.

he's essentially matt barnes without the 'tude and with a jumpshot

I guess the question I'd ask is if he's really worth it? I don't think he'll sign for the min, so we'd have to cut Ron and hope Luke Retires, otherwise we just aren't getting another SF. If we're paying Ron already so much, Battier will want a multi-year deal and he's already 33. No point IMO especially at his age.

Shane Battier strikes me as the type who will not always go for the largest check but the best fit for him and his family. With that in mind and if my judgement is correct, Then we may be able to get him for a decent price. While he is a veteran I think he still has a lot left in the tank and would fit in nicely with our team. Definitely an upgrade from Metta, And one less defensive nemisis for Kobe.

Shane Battier really reminds me of another Rick Fox type of player. I think if we sign him to come off the bench behind Metta and have Barnes move up as Kobe's back-up 2, we should be set in our 2 and 3 spot rotations.

And remember, Rockets 09 had the tandem of Metta and Battier, and that was a good defensive combo when they took on Kobe and the Lakers in the 2nd round.

I think Shane Battier would be a fantastic fit for us. One thing you guys seem to miss is that we actually can kick Barnes down to SG if the need arises.

Hard nosed defender and knock down 3 point vet? What's not to like about him.

Shane career is done. Please don't bring that washed up Blue devil here. He can't score for ish. There are better players out there. You people keep wanting doodoo players to come to the lakers and after about 3 months in the season you guys are screaming for his head. Shane only has defense and that is all. He has 0 offense
