And sign Howard or CP3 outright? If they can, they should jump on that.

I'm pretty sure the amnesty clause is only available this year.

EDIT: Maybe not... but they would still have to pay him.

yes they can, but then they'll have to pay him the remaining of his salary which is like max for the next 4 years....

Heat amnesty Bosh. Then CP3 and Howard both sign with whomever picks up Bosh. Would be great.

why amnesty him when they could trade him to a team with cap space, so they can get back picks and players and not have to pay him 80 mill

i wish people would stop talking about amnesty. teams have 6-10 years to use one amnesty. stop askin "oh u think they will use the amnesty on bosh". "u think they will use the amnesty on amare".

these scenarios are almost 100% not gonna happen unless a star has a career ending injury and they show they are unable to be effective. so please stop talking about it in this manner.

Amnesty should be used on players like Brandon Roy or Gilbert Arenas or a player in the past eddy curry when he played for the knicks. Amnesty wont be wasted by most teams because they only have 1. so if your gonna put a thread up about amnesty please put up one about a player that is worthy of being amnestied

Seriously, do you know anything about how the salary cap works?

The Amnesty still requires you to pay the guy for the remainder of him contract. While it may not hit your cap, it will hit you wallet.

Why not trade him this season for expiring contracts and picks? Then just sign one outright?

Why the hell would you amnesty a star player that is pretty much healthy most of the time?

That would be the biggest "F U" to the Heat and Lebron.

Because Bosh is hated, even amongst their own fan base. Kind of fickle if you ask me. Add into the fact that every contender's fans have wet dreams about CP3 and D12.
