View Full Version : If you could have any one NBA question definitively answered, what would it be?

If the basketball gods came down from basketball heaven and agreed to answer one question about the history of the NBA completely definitively, what would you pick. A few come to my mind. How much collusion was really involved in the summer of 2010? Was the Ewing lottery (or any other lottery) fixed? How much game fixing, if any, actually happened in the Donaghy era? I think I'd go with the lottery question, I don't think any modern lotteries have been fixed, but I absolutely think it's possible for Ewing to the Knicks to have been fixed. The league needed the Knicks to become relevant, the league wasn't big enough at the time (MJ was only a rookie, Bird and Magic were just coming into their prime) for it to be a major scandal, at least on the level it would be today, and it's absolutely something I could see Stern doing.

My Q: Why did you ruin BASKETBALL and turned it into this circus both on and off the court?

Why did you not spend the 2 years before the CBA expiration meeting regularly to have a deal done before the expiration of the CBA and how do you respond to the notion that it sends the message that you care more about leverage in negotiation then you do about your own product, all employees and consumers (in this case fans) of your product?

I guess this kind of fits into your "summer of 2010" topic, but:

What was going on with LeBron (and what was going on in his head) in Game 5 against the Celtics? Was he trying? Was he injured? If he wasn't trying, was it because he knew he couldn't get over the hump with the Cavaliers and needed an excuse (losing to the Celtics) to justify leaving? Or had already decided he was going to Miami? Were his teammates too afraid of him to say anything? What do they think happened?

*That all counts as one question. Because I said so.

What would have happened if Donaghy didn't rig game 6 between the Kings-Lakers?

One more (as a Raptor fan):

What if management listened to Carter and Drafted Wade with the 4th overall pick?

There would be so many players from the late 80's-early 90's on. Basically think "high flyer" and you would have your answer.

Yes because mass and athleticism have a direct correlation to drug use for professional basketball players and no other factors should be taken into consideration for an accurate result.

I'm familiar with that argument but it doesn't wash. Let's not derail this thread ...

What are all of the illegal things that Stern, NBA officials, and referees have done the past 25 years?

That would be fun to know.

What I want out of that most of all though is to find out the story of Game 6 of the 2002 WCF...

yes, i mean the scrubs that are gonna make the minimum and that no team will ever make cap room for or pay an mle for are gonna get paid the same either way so they woudl vote yep.

the thing is the deal is complete crap for all of the starters and 6th/7th men.

^Basically the deal is no good for the top "1%" of players so it has to be squashed. :laugh2: Occupy NBA.

My biggest question would be about officiating. Have officials been instructed to make calls for big market team and players who sell the most merchandise. I honestly believe that the NBA made sure the Bulls got to the finals every year, and I'm not just a hater. It happened with the Kobe/Shaq Lakers too, and as a fan of the game, I just like to watch the best basketball teams play each other, and I honesly believe that officials have been instructed to ensure the teams that generate the highest ratings make it farther based, not on their skill, but on their ability to generate revenue and ratings.

I believe that the the Pacers should have beat the Bulls in Jordan's last series against them. I believe that the Knicks out-played the Bulls. I believe that Sac-town beat the Lakers, and that Philly beat LA in the finals, and that the Spurs have out played the Lakers in match-ups where the officials helped the Lakers win.

And it has frsutrated me as a fan for decades.

Who would win in a 1 on 1 game? Kobe or Lebron?

Basketball God - Kobe would destroy Lebron and the Lebron is aware of that as well. That is why he would never accept the challenge just as he would never enter the Slam Dunk contest. Lebron isn't skilled enough to beat Kobe or Durant one on one.

you're so obsesseed :laugh2: if kobe is so much better why are you always talking about lebron. its obviously something that bothers you. haters gonna hate

anyways my question would be why lebron was so passive in the finals after having arguably his best series the one prior. not like his shot wasnt falling he just was not taking shots it seemed.

LOL- I could tell you that definitively.

There would be a deal in place, but games wouldnt start until december 15th. This is clearly the reason why the player reps did not allow the proposal to go to a vote.

Would the Bulls have won if Jordan hadn't retired after his 3rd chip?
If Bird's back doesn't give out how many titles does he get?
If Kobe and Shaq don't feud how great could they have been?

Its kind of hard to only have one question lol but the Jordan one would be my top

With so many people this question is different even though the majority will say MJ.

I wonder about star/veteran treatment with calls. I want to know if refs knowingly give the benefit of the doubt to them, or if they claim they're just calling it fair, like they see it.

Also, who stabbed paul pierce 9 times.
