Thought they did this last week

SI article dated today ...

The NBA has informed teams that all games through Dec. 15 have been canceled, according to a tweet from Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

The most recent collective bargaining proposal sent to the players detailed a 72-game 2011-12 NBA season that would begin on Dec. 15. Yesterday the NBPA made the decision to reject that offer from the owners, and have begun to make efforts to disband their union. In doing so, they plan to try to take talks of a new collective bargaining agreement out of the negotiating room and into the courts.

Until now, NBA commissioner David Stern had only officially only canceled NBA games through Dec. 1. During an interview Monday on ESPN, he made it clear that with the NBA players’ recent actions, the possibility of any season in 2011-12 is becoming increasingly unlikely.

“It looks like the 2011-12 season is really in jeopardy,” Stern said on ESPN, shortly following the announcement of the NBPA’s rejection of the deal. “It’s just a big charade. To do it now, the union is ratcheting up I guess to see if they can scare the NBA owners or something. That’s not happening.”

this is really a non story. if they had agreed to a deal the same thing would have happened.

They were going to start a 72 game schedule on Dec 15. They wouldn't necessarily have lost those games between now and then, just tried to fit them into a shorter time frame post Dec 15. Now they are cancelling those games.

This

At this point, I think they are just trying to stay in the headlines, while in reality majority of Sports fans can care less...

Best case scenario is a 50-60 game season that would begin sometime in early January with 13-15 games in each of January, February, March and April.

Unrealistic, I know, but I try to remain optimistic.

Nothing at this point surprises me. I have been saying that a 50 game season was the best case scenario since the end of last season if we get anything at all.

we have known this for a week... it wasn't official... but the most resent proposal was based on a 72 game schedule starting December 15th... so this is nothing new... it just that it was made official today.

not sure what part of it takes 30 days from date of agreement to have a basketball game fans don't understand???

This has been stated over and over, so today is the 15th, and games are cancelled thru the 15 of Dec., is this not making any sense?

It should!!

Guys really. Let it go. If the NBA season happens, big deal. Almost 80% of the country could care less about the lockout or if the NBA starts on time. The other 20% must all be in here. The players don't give a rat's *** about us fans. They proved by that by being greedy POS. It isn't enough they make millions in their contracts, plus royalties and endorsements, but they also want half of the owners part. That disgusts me and proves me to me that NBA players are selfish jerks who are about money.
