Ricky Rubio with his championship pedigree + Kevin Love + Derrick Williams + Beasley = Playoffs?

i think so, anybody who comes in here to start hating should rethink the tem they are hating on and look at the talent level on the team. The wolves, if the get chemistry, could be a dangerous. all they need is a center and two guard. they even have a good bench scorer if they keep beastly. maybe dwight should come here... nobody would get a rebound on us

im patiently waiting for love to complain his way out of minny because of lack of success

beasly to get traded out in 1 to 2 years

the team will build round rubio and williams, who could turn the franchize around

I dont think so unless the Spurs have a dramtic crash and burn, I see the Clippers making it before the T'Wolves I'd like to see them trade Beasley, Randolph & picks for a defensive big man

Franchise.

Anyways, I think they have a good combo of foundations/assets.

PG - Rubio/Rindour/Telfair
SG - Johnson/Lee/Webster/Ellington
SF - Beasley/Williams/Hayward/Tanguy
PF - Love/Randolph/Tolliver
C - Milicic/Miller/Pekovic

That's a solid team.

I think they will get some more wins, but still under .500...

They need to trade some of their young talent to bolster either the 5 or the 2. The only other problem I see with them is that they have too many tweeners.

This. No playoffs for the wolves.

The Adelman signing basically assured him signing an extension.

The Wolves are still a year away. They have 2 rookies who will see substantial playing time, and a new coach/system. And no training camp. It will be bumpy early, and they will fall too far behind to make the playoffs this year. But I see them over .400 for the shortened season, assuming there is one.

I think they have a few years to go. We need to take small steps - say win 30+ games for a change.

I personally don't think Rubio fits in with their personnel but regardless I really like this team and hope for their success. I think Beas is coming off the bench though with Johnson and Webster starting.

I like the core. They will get alot more wins but not a playoff team yet, maybe crack .500

I still see them as a high lottery pick team. All these bottom feeders have cases to present that their respective teams have improved.

Not yet no. You don't go from having the worst record in the NBA to a playoff contender IN THE WESTERN CONFERENCE because of a rookie PG.

exactly. Even with expected improvement amongst the youngters, there are just too many teams that win 45+ games out west. They are a year or two away if everything goes well.

they have alot of scorers but no defensive players.

I would have felt better about their chances had they had a full offseason to add maybe one more vet, and to have the guys practicing with their new coach...this year, I am going to say no.

especially If Rubio turns out to be the stud everyone thinks he will and Love makes even more progress then they will potentially be as great as the Clippers will be as well.

Absolutely. Rick Adelman took a Yao-T-Mac less team to the 9th spot. That certainly means he can take a Rubio/Love/Williams team to the 8th spot or higher.

THIS
If they get chemistry, they can make some noise. Rubio setting up oops to D-Will and Wesley, w/ Love and Beasley off the bench is... :speechless::speechless:

Rubio
Wesley
D-Will
Love
Millic

they can definitely compete for a playoff spot in the WIDE OPEN WEST. Keep on mind, Suns/Hornets(may trade Paul)/Nuggets may not make the playoffs. Outside of 5 teams(Spurs, Mavs, Lakers, Thunder, Grizzlies), 3 playoff spots are up for grabs.

no I don't see how adding two rookies to the worst team in the league makes you a playoff team, now if they add a couple of free agents then sure, but if their roster stays the same then I don't see it for 2-3 years

People are really underestimating the Wolves' latest acquisitions in Rubio/Will/Adelman.

Here's what we know about the following people.

- Adelman is KNOWN for doing great w/ talent barren teams(ask Houston fans about the last 3 years)

- Rubio IS a great defender AND passer, yes he's a mediocre shooter. However, w/ that talent, Rubio will be in a '08 Rondo role(basically play defense and set people up, which he WILL DO)

- Derrick Williams is a great shooter and a phenomenal athlete. Now tell me, wouldn't athletic shooter benefit w/ Rubio? Do you know that Rubio would make Will's life(Wes as well) easier? They'd be a fast-break team w/ the likes of Rubio, 3's; alley-oops, transition points oh my :speechless:

If the Wolves HAVE a FULL off-season and season, they'll be AT WORST a .500 team.
So in the 2012 - 2013 season, the Wolves will turn a lot of heads.

They will be MUCH better this year when the ball gets rolling. They will be far more entertaining and with a coach that knows what he is doing it will a very competative team. That being said they are a bit to young and have not played together as a group which is likely the biggest issue to them contending for the 8th seed. I see them right around 500. and gaining some great momentum down the stretch. I see them missing by about 3-4 games with a record of 35-36. Hopefully only miss about 10 games of the season.

idk about making the playoffs i gotta see rubio play in the league first but the t wolves were in a lot of tight games last year they really coulda won A LOT of games they lost.. with that said i gotta lot of respect for the wolves always thought yall were a player away.. if beasley steps up and becomes a finisher for you guys as it seems he is starting to mature as a man.. it will most likely happen.. the west is weaker you guys have a chance at being a high seed

i think it will all come down to how williams plays in his first season. if hes legit, and shows that he is capable of being a star player along side love, why not.

I do think williams is going to be a good player in the nba.

I really like the adelman signing.

guys are under estimating the twolves talent. i think they have a very nice group of younge players. i dont know how long it will take for them to mesh and grow as a team but the future looks bright.

yes i think they make the playoffs. the west monster teams are growing old. lakers, spurs, mavs etc..

Let's not underestimate the Wolves now... Playoffs? We are contending for the championship this year. It's basically, NBA championship or bust!:)

I love the young talent and Rubio will improve this team, i dont care he cant shoot, we dont need him too. I agree with those that think this is on Derrick Williams, if he is a stud out of the gate then the wolves have a huge shot to make the playoffs. However, due to the lockout i think Michael "i have the ball, lets just shoot" Beasley starts so that will affect that.

I see the wolves missing the playoffs but only just...

I like how ppl think Rubio is automatically become Steve Nash. Steve Nash didnt become "Steve Nash" until 8 years into the league. Also, Nash's first 4 years in the league were a complete dud too.

I like how the Minny coach is a hardline owner. However under his proposed rules, he wont be able to resign his all his young guys.

Anyway that team has TOO many young ppl. It is great to have a young nucleus but it gets to the point where you dont need to add anymore younglings.

Beasley, Love, Williams, Johnson, Ellington, Rubio, Randolph is just too much. You gotta trade some of these guys for real proven talent.

Do agree and have been pulling for what had been rumored earlier this year a Beasley and Pieces for Iggy.
Rubio, Iggy, Willimams, Love, Randolph with Johnson, Ridnour and Darko (maybe our new big man guru can do what others have not :))

May be enough to at least make some noise in contending for a spot in the post season. As is may be a bit tougher as pretty young.
