Soccer stadiums hold more people though. So it's kinda expected.

Maybe they should do percentage of the venue being filled.

Because I know most NBA teams fill up 80% of their venue.

the lockout isnt helping the NBA, so thats how I look at it imo

I've very surprised. That Seattle attendance is enough for a huge skew alone, its double what an NBA arena can hold. I don't know a single MLS fan.

i think the more important number is growth.
sure, it's easy to post gains when the draw is low to begin with, but the fact that it's growing is a positive to build on.

completely misleading thread...
1) soccer stadiums hold more fans
2) there are far less teams than in the NBA (b/c they havent been able to sustain in some markets)...so the total fans going to games is still way higher in the NBA
3) The TV ratings aren't even close... and that is where a majority of people watch their sports.

how much does it cost to go to a soccer game... $20 for the family. try that in the nba.... i'd be willing to bet ticket revenues aren't even close...

are you suggesting the thing you posted in the op has something to do with the lockout?

I think he's suggesting that the NBA and players best pay attention to what is ALREADY down and not let the situation get worse!
Hockey is virtually nil in Memphis even though there is a minor type league in a Mississippi town across the state line. Football is a joke, unless you trek to Nashville for the Titans but basketball is and always has reigned supreme.
Memphis fell in love with the Grizzlies a few short months ago during their historic playoff run. I HATE to see this lockout mess this up.

I use to attend MLS games (L.A GALAXY when they played at the Rose Bowl). MLS teams are now attracting big names (Beckham, Henry, Marquez) so expect the number to continue to grow if they can add additional big names to the league. You also have to take into account the price.. It's not as expensive as it is for the NBA.

It should go by % not number of people. Baseball parks have 50,000+ seats, while most NBA arenas have under 20,000.

This has got to be the dumbest, most inaccurate and misleading article I have ever read. The author of this find had to have been smoking that good **it when he thought this bs up. Either that or they're letting 2nd graders write their stuff because any idiot can easily figure out the difference between stadium and arena capacity.

This is nothing to sneeze at. Soccer draws well in Toronto and it's still somewhat considered a second-tier team to cover and follow.
