I'm 20 years old, so i don't really know too much about the 50's-80's basketball. I only hear what people say and all i hear is how amazing some of these players are. But when i look at highlights (i understand quality of filming wasn't as good back then), i just don't think some of these players physically would be able to compete with the players today.

So what if the players today played against the 'old timers' in their primes?

I picked these players from the top 50 list, which team do you think would win and why?

(all players in prime to be fair)

OLD TEAM:

PG: Bob Cousy
SG: Jerry West
SF: John Havlicek
PF: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
C: Wilt Chamberlain

NEW TEAM:

PG: Chris Paul
SG: Kobe Bryant
SF: Lebron James
PF: Dirk Nowitzki
C: Shaq O'Neill

I didn't bother reading your post and treated this poll as whether I prefer the new NBA rules (no perimeter defense allowed, superstars get fouled every time they drive, etc.) or the old ones. And by a mile I prefer the old ones. The NBA lockout might be the nail in the coffin for me unless they address their systemic problems.

i'm not a fan of comparing two eras
