Get a great chance on the PP and Callahan is out of position... he's gotta get going. Dubi, Call and Anisimov all need to get going

Regardless of the result of this game something needs to change.

This team is a ****ing joke right now...thank god for unreal goaltending.

jeeeez what an onslaught. if we can a pp goal right now that could realllllyyyyy change the momentum or at least equalize it.
i think fedotenko got the message from last game. he's the only one standing out this game and not because he scored a goal

Haha lets go Cally. Way to make something happen even if it was a mistake.

thank you captain. does that count as an assist and a goal lol

Callahan shows up after the past 5 games. It has been kinda bad though. Im not a big fan of all the line switches, especially AA. They have been on the road for like 3 weeks so hopefully they can get home and settle down some.

If we can somehow steal 6 of 8 points on this roadtrip after getting outplayed in every game...

shtimp7
10-24-2011, 10:41 PM
stealing points, that exactly what we've been doing but that doesnt solve anything. something is clearly off when every game we play is pretty bad. even the 4-0 game we had we were outplayed for 85% of the game

hughest4
10-24-2011, 10:44 PM
You are absolutely right, it doesn't solve anything.

But i'd much rather steal points then...not steal them.

like a thief who's temporarily rich. we'll be in jail soon

Cally might have ****ed up on the first pp...but the guy was all over the place tonight.

Great job by Cally, Fedo, and Biron.

Great game for Biron. 2 goals on the PP. It will be good to get home and see the new MSG.

so maybe its fair to say we've got the clutch gene... otherwise we suck and better get it together lol
biron was great but he def had some trouble holding onto the puck. the jets skated and hit 5x harder than we did and biron bailed us out.

A win is a win. These guys just need to get home.

myabe after a couple of weeks its hard to remember how much of a mission these guys have been on all around the world.... just let them get home.. settle, maybe give it more than 6 games at the start of the season... and then get on there backs. right now im not worried, i see the holes bt we are getting the points and on our way back home for a hit now.

The play that Fedotenko scored on was the one that burned the Rangers in the Isles game (by Tavares). Rangers tried it 4 or 5 times last night and after it finally worked they stopped trying it.

It will be interesting to see what the lines are gonna be for the game against Toronto after this uninspiring win.

I don't think it matters they will change by the second period anyway so it makes no difference who starts the game together.

In other news Bell was returned to the Whale today which may mean Sauer is ready to come back.

Not necessarily. Just means that Woywitka will play over him so there was no need to keep him up if he wasnt gonna play. He made a bad pinch against the Oilers that led to a goal, so he probably wasnt going to play.

I obviously hope its the return for Sauer, but last I heard he still wasnt cleared for contact in practice.

Gotta say, despite the less-than-stellar performances, it's so much more gratifying to see them get two points after being outplayed, than it is to see them get no points in a loss where they played well, as happened several times last year. These points against Vancouver, Calgary and Winnipeg (even the points they stole in Europe) might make a big difference at the end of the season. Hopefully, the team is playing much better long before then.

Agreed at the end of the day we are 3-2-2 with 8 points from all road games after a long trip. Im not gonna judge to much, especially when we got points. Its not like at the begin of the season I didnt think Henrik was going to play well and be a huge part of the team.

2 points is all that matters. They will get better as the season goes on.

How come Gabs didn't play much in the 3rd? I only got to watch the first 10 or so mins in the 1st period.

And was Cally's goal just a fluke? It went off a defenders skate right?

Yeah kind of a fluke, but it was still a good play.

Cally drove hard to the net and was sending a pass across to i think Dubs(could be wrong). Pass deflected off of the defenders skate but if it hadnt there was a good chance our other player put the puck in the back of the net.

Appeared as though Gaborik was benched but who knows

If that's the case, Tortorella has the absolute shortest leash I have ever seen used by a coach...

--Unless I'm wrong on this one and Gabby actually did deserve a 3rd period benching in the 7th game of the year after he has been by far our most dynamic player this season...

I think Gaborik only missed like one shift or something and the announcers blew it out of proportion before he got back out there. It was a close game, we were up by 1, players like Dubi, Cally, Prust and Boyle are good in that capacity, so i don't think that Gaborik was benched, Torts was just putting the players out there he thought gave him a better chance of holding on to the lead, I don't think there's a story here.

Richards had 4+ minutes more icetime than Gaborik for the entire game (they are the comparables, since they don't kill penalties). At the time the announcers mentioned it, Gaborik had only 1 minute 20 seconds TOI in the third period (I couldn't say exactly how far into the third that was, but it was several minutes in), 16+ minutes for the whole game.

Edit: According to Brooks, Tortorella said Gaborik was held off the ice because the Rangers spent so much time in their own end in the 3rd.
